Within the social administration, you make a difference, both for individuals and for the municipality as a whole. When you work here, you can be sure to engage in meaningful tasks. We investigate and decide on support for children and youth, families, the elderly, people with disabilities, and individuals in need of support in various life situations. Together, we work to provide the highest quality of service we offer. One of our valued employees is moving on to new challenges, and we are therefore looking for an engaged social worker to join us. The position belongs to the Relationship Violence Team, which is part of our authority's work in the adult area, where we focus on a holistic view, legal security, and putting people at the center. The Relationship Violence Team is part of the Adult Support Unit, which also includes dependency, adult outpatient care, Flotten, and social psychiatry.

The work group you will be a part of is characterized by high competence and long experience, as well as a permissive and warm climate where both humor and care are natural parts of everyday life. The unit has a total of 13 employees and a unit manager.

The Adult Support Unit belongs to the Adult Department, where some of your colleagues are also responsible for the municipality's work with financial assistance, eviction prevention, benefit fraud, recovery, housing coaching, support for newcomers, estate administration, and debt and budget counseling. The department's broad composition creates good opportunities for innovative thinking, a holistic perspective, and collaboration – with the client's needs in focus. All work is based on Österåker's values: Everyone is equally important for us to provide the best possible service to the residents of Österåker.

We offer, among other things, wellness hours, wellness grants, and continuous external supervision. All new employees receive an introduction plan and access to a mentor.

Your new job

As a social worker in domestic violence, you are responsible for authority work according to SoL (Social Services Act) focusing on adults who have been subjected to or have perpetrated violence. You conduct qualified investigations, assess needs, make decisions about interventions, and follow up on these. The work also includes close collaboration with internal and external actors such as therapists, police, health care, and other authorities.

We have recently started an in-depth collaboration with the police, which means seeking contact with victims of violence or perpetrators in the home to motivate them to accept support and help to change their situation. You will thus be an important link in shaping this collaboration further. Collaboration with the police means that work in the afternoon/evening occurs about 2-4 times a month.

You will have a particular responsibility to ensure safety and protection for victims of violence, including risk assessments, safety planning, and in some cases support in legal processes. The work is done in close collaboration with other colleagues within the administration, such as child and family services when needed.

Your profile

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A degree in social work or equivalent education.
  • Experience in authority work within social services.
  • Documented knowledge of domestic violence.
  • Good knowledge of current legislation, especially SoL.
  • The ability to work independently, structured, and with good judgment.
  • Good collaboration skills and experience working in teams and collaborating with other actors.

It is advantageous if you have:

  • Experience working with VINR within authority work.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment tools such as FREDA/PATRIARK or other assessment instruments.
  • Experience working in a setting with a particular responsibility for domestic violence, e.g., a domestic violence center.
  • Knowledge of trauma, honor-related violence, or violence in same-sex relationships.
  • Experience collaborating with sheltered housing, the judicial system, or health care.
