About Us at the Anesthesia Clinic

The Anesthesia Clinic provides the residents of Blekinge access to anesthesia and surgical care in Karlskrona and Karlshamn, as well as intensive care in Karlskrona.

Approximately 270 employees of various categories work within the clinic. Each year, over 10,000 surgeries and an additional 2,000 anesthesias are performed for examinations and other procedures.

In Karlshamn, elective surgical activities are conducted with a focus on process flows and efficient working methods, along with preoperative and postoperative care. In Karlskrona, the more advanced operations take place, including all emergency surgical activities, receiving trauma cases, and qualified intensive care around the clock. We provide general intensive care in close collaboration with the hospital's other clinics. We deliver technically advanced care with the patient at the center.

• Karlshamn: The surgical department consists of five operating rooms where elective surgeries are mainly performed in orthopedics, surgery, gynecology, urology, plastic surgery, and dentistry. This also includes a postoperative unit.
• Karlskrona: The central operating room consists of ten operating rooms where we perform elective surgeries during the day and emergency surgeries around the clock. We serve all surgical clinics at Blekingesjukhuset, such as orthopedics, gynecology, and surgery. Additionally, there is a separate Ear and Eye Surgery with four operating rooms, two for general anesthesia and two for local anesthesia procedures.
• Intensive Care Unit: Located in Karlskrona, it has six staffed care places with an associated postoperative unit. We are a department that provides highly specialized care aimed at all ages and all medical specialties.

The Anesthesia Clinic is tasked with providing highly specialized care in hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO). We are one of two clinics in the country with HBO readiness around the clock. A hyperbaric chamber for elective treatment is located at the hospital in Karlskrona, and a larger hyperbaric chamber for emergency treatment is located at the Marine Base. The clinic's mission includes pre-hospital readiness involving primary and secondary transports by ambulance and helicopter.

About the Job

Region Blekinge invests in training positions with academic specialist training for nurses with the aim of further enhancing competence in prioritized areas for better care of our patients. You will be employed in a permanent full-time position as a nurse within the relevant department of the Anesthesia Clinic. The training position lasts for one year with full-time studies, and you will receive a monthly salary as a nurse during the study period. You are entitled to contractual vacation and salary in accordance with the applicable collective agreement. After completing the training, you will be placed as an employed specialist-trained nurse based on your chosen studies in one of the clinic's departments:

• Surgical Department in Karlshamn
• Central Operating Room in Karlskrona
• Intensive Care Unit in Karlskrona

About You

We are looking for a licensed nurse who is applying and being accepted into the specialist nursing program with one of the following specializations starting in the autumn term of 2026.

• Anesthesia Nurse
• Intensive Care Nurse
• Surgical Nurse

You have a drive to work with development and improvements and view positively on completing your specialist training closely linked to the operations you will be working in. As a person, you have the ability to see the big picture, want to work cross-professionally, and have good collaboration skills. Clinical experience as a nurse is an advantage.
