The Urban Planning Administration consists of six departments with approximately 600 employees. Our department, "Street and Traffic", primarily works on behalf of the Street and Community Environment Committee. The department is responsible for the construction, operation, and maintenance of the municipality's streets, parks, and natural areas. The Traffic and Regulation unit is an important cog in the administration and development of an attractive, safe, and sustainable city. As landowners and road maintainers, it is important that we have control over where work is being done and how the traffic situation is planned during construction.
The position is based at the City Hall in central Uppsala. We offer flexible working hours and the possibility to work from home up to 3 days a week.
Job Description
The assignment includes investigating and making decisions regarding local traffic regulations, traffic exemptions, road signs, and traffic organization plans. As a traffic engineer, you decide on traffic regulation and road signs on the municipality's roads and about the traffic situation around, for example, road works, utility placements, and urban planning projects during construction. You work to ensure safe accessibility for all road users in the best possible way in complex situations.
The work combines independent tasks with close collaboration with colleagues, other departments, and external actors. It gives you the opportunity to contribute your expertise to both strategic issues and practical solutions that affect people's everyday lives. Together with other employees, you provide service and support to both citizens and partners. Other tasks included in the position are reviewing upcoming construction projects, responding to questions and comments from the public, and providing internal support regarding traffic regulation issues.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a university degree or higher vocational education in areas such as urban planning, road and traffic, or urban development, or extensive work experience that the employer considers equivalent. To succeed in the job, you need to have knowledge of traffic-related issues and be comfortable working in digital systems. The job requires excellent knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form. A driver's license (B) is a requirement for the position. It is an advantage if you have previously held a similar position for more than 5 years.
