Do you want to be part of a cohesive team that cares about your personal development? With us, it's possible!
Introduction Urban design at WSP is involved in many exciting community development and industrial projects, and we are pleased to have the opportunity to shape how a future-proof and sustainable society can be designed. Our strength lies in our ability to adapt to our clients' cultures and local markets while leveraging our global expertise to execute the most complex projects and help our clients achieve their goals. To meet the increasing demand for our services, we now need to expand our wonderful team with a designer with technical or project management responsibility within streets and land for our Urban Design department East. Nationally, we are about 300 employees working within urban design and have several internal networks for knowledge sharing and support. There is a strong sense of community, and we help each other with both technical issues and staffing assignments. Our main clients are municipalities, contractors, industries, and developers.
Responsibilities We offer you the opportunity to become a key person in a team where we strongly believe in you as an engaged individual who shares your energy. We sympathize with how difficult it can be to balance work and private life, and therefore offer great freedom under responsibility and independence to our dedicated employees. The department has several groups within streets/land, landscape, traffic, urban planning, and client support. The department works with climate issues within construction projects in the form of climate calculations and the development of new climate-positive neighborhoods. You will join a cheerful team with engaged colleagues who have a broad competence in urban design. You will also have a strong local connection with other colleagues at WSP who are eager to share knowledge in areas such as water management/stormwater, geotechnics, environment, construction, project management, etc.
In our assignments, you will come into contact with colleagues from several disciplines, where you together contribute your expertise to find future-proof solutions within infrastructure and community building. About the position As a designer or technical manager within street and land design, you will have great opportunities to work on various types of assignments, from smaller local projects to large national projects spanning several years. You will participate in all phases, from feasibility studies/early investigations to construction documents/follow-up of the construction phase. You will work on both smaller and larger assignments for new residential areas, industries, streets, schools, preschools, public spaces, etc., which you will carry out together with colleagues in project form.
At WSP, we highly value innovation and knowledge sharing. As a project-leading designer within your technical area, part of the work will involve developing our internal process models as well as personal professional development. You will be part of a group and department with several project managers/technical managers with extensive knowledge and experience. We believe that this position is perfect for you who have worked for a number of years, want to refine your skills, or take the next step in your career. You will belong to a department of just over 50 employees distributed across four locations. Possible locations for the position are Uppsala, Västerås, and Falun.
Qualifications To be successful in the role, we believe you have a post-secondary education in a relevant field and at least 5 years of professional experience in street and land design. As a person, we believe you enjoy working purposefully and collaboratively. We value good communication skills and a businesslike approach. Since we work in a global corporation where we assemble teams across borders for assignments, it is important that you are comfortable communicating well in both Swedish and English.
It is important to us that you want to work and develop in the consulting role, and therefore qualities such as humility and business acumen are appreciated. To thrive with us, we believe you are a social and self-driven person who appreciates a varied everyday life. You are accustomed to working in Civil 3D or NovaPoint and have experience managing assignments regarding quality and economy. You have good knowledge of AMA Construction.
