Safety Guardian for the Field Group within Borlänge's Social Services

Within Borlänge's Social Services (IFO), there are four units; Reception and Prevention Unit, Child and Family Unit, Unit for Social Interventions for Children and Youth, and Unit for Social Interventions for Adults. The Field Group is organized under the Reception and Prevention Unit, which also includes IFO's Common Reception, Dalarna's Social Emergency Service, Southern Dalarna's Family Counseling, Guides, and a Promotion and Prevention Unit.

As one of our safety guardians has moved on to another exciting position, we are now looking for a new safety guardian for our Field Group. Currently, there are four safety guardians, one of whom has supervisory responsibility. The safety guardians work closely with field assistants and also collaborate with other employees within the social services' Individual and Family Care.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The safety guardians work proactively and relationship-building by operating in places where young people gather, both within and outside the school arena. Through quick prioritizations, they are mobile throughout Borlänge and provide assistance where the need is greatest. The safety guardians act with great flexibility to make rapid re-prioritizations, meaning that priorities are set week by week after reviewing the situation. Presence creates safety and calm among our Borlänge residents. Establishing contact with young people and their parents is an important part of the work to find ways to prevent and manage destructive behaviors.

The safety guardians operate through good cooperation with key actors such as schools, businesses, police, security guards, and other actors in civil society that they meet in their work.

As a safety guardian, one works with quick interventions, assesses, and prioritizes where one's presence is needed. The safety guardians channel cases to other actors and can also make home visits to talk with parents. The operation strives to ensure staffing that extends from morning to late evening as much as possible. Some weekend work may also occur.

As a safety guardian, you will:

  • Work proactively and build relationships to create safety among young residents of Borlänge.
  • Establish contact with young people and their parents to find ways to prevent and manage destructive behaviors.
  • Provide help and guidance for young people and their families in problematic situations.
  • Create safety by being visible in the arenas where young people are present.
  • Collaborate with various actors to channel young people and their parents to the available support services.

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic requirements for the position

As a safety guardian, you need to have a high school diploma and experience in social change work.

You must have very good knowledge of the Swedish language, both written and spoken.

A B driver's license is required as the operation shares a bus with field assistants to move quickly throughout Borlänge.

Personal qualities

As a safety guardian, you need to have a strong and genuine commitment to the target group.

You should have an easy time establishing contact with other people and be calm and secure in yourself. You are expected to act professionally and solution-focused in the situations you encounter in your work.

As a safety guardian, you are expected to take responsibility in your work but also have an easy time collaborating. You work closely with your colleagues, and good collaboration skills are of utmost importance. You also need to be able to cooperate with other actors you meet in your work. A curious and non-judgmental approach is a prerequisite for the position.

Desirable qualifications

Post-secondary education relevant to the position. We also see it as an advantage if you have experience in crime prevention work.

Knowledge of English or other languages is desirable. If you have knowledge of social media, it is an advantage as young people increasingly use social media as a communication tool.
