Summer Substitute Curator
Region Västerbotten works to ensure that good health and sustainable development strengthen each other. We take responsibility for equitable welfare and ensure that research and innovation yield results.
We are now looking for a curator for a summer substitute position where you will work both at the Surgical Center and the Movement Organs Center.
About the Surgical Center
The main goal and task of the Surgical Center in Umeå is to provide highly specialized and high-quality care and research for patients within the northern healthcare region. The clinic is divided into sections for urology, breast, endocrine, vascular, colorectal, and upper gastrointestinal surgery, which are conducted in both outpatient and inpatient care. The care at the Surgical Center is characterized by a holistic approach where many different professional categories are engaged and collaborate for the best results. In collaboration with Umeå University, we also conduct successful research with both clinical and preclinical focus.
About the Movement Organs Center
The Movement Organs ward in Umeå has up to 32 beds, and we work in interdisciplinary care teams around patients aged between 18 and 100+. The ward consists of three sections where we form nursing and medical teams to create specialized competence and increase patient safety. The facilities we work in are newly renovated and adapted to ensure that our operations function optimally. The orthopedic ward is a workplace where we continuously work to improve and maintain a good working environment, a workplace where we care for each other and support one another within and between professional groups and maintain an open climate between employees and managers.
Our Working Method
We who work at the Surgical Center and the Movement Organs Center believe that we have an exciting and stimulating job where you learn new things every day. Teamwork is part of daily work, as well as close collaboration with different professional categories. Sharing knowledge and receiving others' knowledge makes us stronger together in our daily work. With us, you will work with engaged colleagues and a strong sense of community. We welcome new ideas, maintain a positive attitude, and support each other.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a curator with us, you contribute knowledge and engagement that helps people feel secure.
At the Surgical Center, you will meet patients and their relatives for crisis and support conversations, both in outpatient and inpatient care. You will also have external contacts with, for example, the Social Insurance Agency and the municipality. Your responsibilities will include investigation, assessment, and conversation treatment of patients and relatives, as well as community information and advice. All our work is characterized by person-centered care, where the focus is on the personal meeting with the patient and their specific support needs. As a curator, you are an integral part of the teamwork alongside your colleagues in various professional roles.
The curator at the Movement Organs Center is primarily located in the Orthopedic Ward and mainly works with psychosocial support during the hospital stay but also, if necessary, after discharge from the ward. The work involves direct contact with patients and relatives and also includes a significant amount of staff support initiatives aimed at enabling patient-facing staff to make an initial assessment for further action. The curator is also available as support and offers relieving conversations to the ward's employees after difficult events.
