Case Officer in the Climate Step

The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency coordinates and drives the work for a good living environment together with others. With us, you can contribute to the important work of achieving our vision - to create a good living environment for humans and all other living beings, now and for future generations! We are now looking for someone who wants to contribute to reduced climate impact by working with concrete measures as a case officer in the Climate Step!

The Climate Step is the government's broadest investment support to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by supporting companies and other operations across the country that want to transition and thereby contribute to Sweden's climate transition.

The mission of the Climate Step includes distributing funds for measures as well as evaluating, following trends, communicating, and developing the initiative. The Climate Step is divided into four units focusing on charging infrastructure (two units), agriculture, and industry, as well as several support units. In total, the Climate Step consists of about 80 employees.

Your Tasks

You may work with one or more of the following areas:

  • Processing applications for charging infrastructure within Charge the Car.
  • Processing applications that are not deemed to meet the Climate Step's criteria for support.
  • Economic assessments of incoming applications.
  • Reviewing status and final reports from projects that have already been granted support.

The processing can often be complex as several different aspects need to be weighed in the assessment. Therefore, you need to identify and manage various types of critical issues, as well as drive the preparation of cases forward by seeking support from colleagues and other competencies when necessary.

The work within the Climate Step is broad, and therefore other tasks may occur.

Your Competence

Requirements

We are looking for someone who has a relevant higher education degree in the field, for example in natural sciences/social sciences/economics.

Meritorious

It is an advantage if you have worked with case processing at an authority, have relevant experience in emission reductions to contribute to the green transition and/or work with investment support. Furthermore, knowledge regarding economic controls and Iipax Case is also meritorious.

Personal Qualities

The tasks require that you are structured, efficient, and sometimes thrive in a fast-paced environment. The role involves many contacts both with colleagues and with applicants for funding, which makes good communication skills crucial. You need to be able to act professionally and in accordance with the authority's role in all parts of the work. Furthermore, we see that you are flexible and can reprioritize when circumstances change.

We place great importance on personal qualities.

About the Employment

We are looking for six fixed-term positions lasting up to nine months during 2026. The positions will be located at one of the Climate Step units or the Unit for Grant Management and Control in Stockholm or Östersund. Start date as soon as possible by agreement. We apply individual salary setting.

Application

When you apply, you will need to answer a number of selection questions related to the requirements profile in the advertisement. Your answers will be used as part of the selection process and may determine whether you proceed in the recruitment process or not. Therefore, it is important that you answer as thoroughly and clearly as possible. We do not use cover letters in the selection process, as we want to focus on your experience and competence, which contributes to a more efficient and fair recruitment process. In your application, you only attach your CV.

We warmly welcome your application by February 19, 2026.
