Social Worker at Ekerö Municipality

We have made a decision! We aim to be a leading municipality – and we have everything it takes to succeed. Short decision-making paths, collaboration across organizational boundaries, and the willingness to dare more. Our high ambitions provide you with opportunities to grow and create positive change for the citizens. As an employee of Ekerö Municipality, you will play a valuable role in our unique island community – and we look forward to your application.

The unit for financial assistance is one of four units within the Social Services' individual and family care. The unit for Financial Assistance investigates and makes decisions according to delegation in matters concerning financial assistance.

Job Description

Within Individual and Family Care, we work in small teams, which gives you proximity to both colleagues and managers. We sit together in shared premises where employees, support functions, and managers collaborate across unit boundaries - this gives us good conditions to find the best solutions for our citizens and clients. Here, we work without prestige and learn from each other.

The unit for financial assistance is a place where we enjoy working together, care for each other, and support each other when needed. We are now looking for a colleague who wants to be part of our team. We offer you, among other things, close managerial support, engaged colleagues, and external supervision.

As a social worker, you will investigate and assess the right to financial assistance according to applicable legislation and work with support for individuals in acute homelessness. Together with the client, you will seek solutions that strengthen their resources and opportunities to become self-sufficient and live an independent life. You will collaborate internally and externally for the client with important individuals and authorities.

The unit's mission also includes budget and debt counseling, municipal estate administration, asset management, reception of newcomers, labor market issues, and support for individuals in acute homelessness. The work also includes actively participating in developing the unit's quality and development work.

In Ekerö Municipality, we have, compared to other municipalities, a relatively low influx of cases, which allows time for both reflection and development. Here, we have the opportunity to thoroughly work through cases and are constantly seeking new ways to reach our citizens and develop together with them. We have a well-organized economy, which provides greater opportunities for good solutions for clients. It also allows us to take good care of our employees; we offer, among other things, days off before public holidays and the option to convert vacation compensation into additional vacation days.

We have good opportunities for flexible working hours and the possibility of remote work - here, as a social worker, you have great freedom to organize your work in a way that suits you. Our office is centrally located in Ekerö, just 15 minutes by bus from Brommaplan or 5 minutes from Jungfrusund (Ekeröleden ferry). For those traveling from Stockholm city, commuter boat 89 departs from Klara Mälarstrand via Lilla Essingen and Ekensberg.

We work with MI and Signs of Safety. We offer you training in the methods we use and actively work with supervision.

There are good career opportunities for those who wish to grow and develop in their professional role!

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should:

  • have a degree in social work or another qualification deemed equivalent
  • be able to collaborate easily with others and focus on the individual
  • have a professional approach and be able to be direct and clear
  • be structured, have good administrative skills, and a sense of order

Previous experience in financial assistance is an advantage.

To thrive with us, you should be engaged, genuinely interested in meeting and understanding people, and curious to learn new things and develop. We hope you will contribute to making work enjoyable for everyone.

We are continuously working with selection and interviews, so please submit your application as soon as possible.

Start date: 2026-03-01 or by agreement
