At the Palliative Medicine Unit, we offer a valuable job focusing on each patient's individual needs.

We strive to see and develop the healthy aspects and provide the patient with the highest possible quality of life. You will care for patients who are hospitalized in our ward as well as patients in their own homes. Care is provided in close collaboration with the patient and their relatives in a multidisciplinary team consisting of doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, social workers, dietitians, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists.

About You

We are looking for a licensed nurse who wants a job where you can make a difference in people's lives. We prefer that you have experience and education in palliative care. You are confident in your professional role and have the patient in focus, which means you have the ability to see the patient as an individual and their needs. Furthermore, you are positive, flexible, solution-focused, have an easy time collaborating, and enjoy working both in a team and independently. Since part of the job involves support and conversations, it is important that you have the ability for honest, open, and genuine communication. As we work with home care, a B driver's license is required. We place great importance on personal suitability.

The Palliative Medicine Unit is part of the Geriatric Clinic and specializes in palliative medicine. We also have our hospital-connected home care (LAH) where we offer specialized palliative medicine in Kalmar's suburbs. Care is available around the clock and is provided by a multidisciplinary team with special knowledge and competence in palliative care. We welcome students, nursing assistants, and doctors in training. We ensure high competence through internal training, continuous professional supervision, and daily reflection opportunities. Current research results are integrated early into care.

The Geriatric Clinic offers inpatient care, home care, and outpatient services. We strive to see and develop the healthy aspects of the most ill, offer a geriatric or palliative team to those in need, lead and develop the content and scope of geriatric and palliative medicine, and particularly prioritize patients with the greatest needs.

The County Hospital in Kalmar is one of three hospitals in Kalmar County. The hospital is an emergency hospital with specialized care, maternity care, and postnatal care.
