Family Therapist at Jönköping Municipality
Jönköping Municipality is a large employer with hundreds of different professional roles. We are growing in line with the development of the municipality, with more residents, more housing, and a larger range of services. We are always on the lookout for new skills - employees with diverse backgrounds and experiences, united by the common drive to create a better municipality to visit, live, work, and reside in.
Are you passionate about children, youth, and parents, and do you want to help improve family relationships? Do you have experience in working with family change processes? Then we have a position for you as a family therapist.
Your New Job
As a family therapist, you will work with children and youth aged 0-20 years and their families. The focus is on ensuring that children and youth receive support, protection, and treatment to grow up safely within their original families. The foundation for all work within Children's and Youth's Open Care is a systemic theoretical approach, which aims to work with the individual, the family, and the entire network.
As a family therapist, you will utilize resources from the individual, family, and their network to develop protective factors and reduce risk factors in the child's/youth's upbringing environment. You will work individually or together with a colleague to lead the change process in the family based on the assignment formulated by the Children's and Youth's investigation unit.
The assignments may include treatment to understand and meet the needs of children and youth, practical and pedagogical guidance in the parental role, change processes in family relationships and interactions, crisis conversations, etc. In your role as a family therapist, you will have many internal and external contacts such as social workers, schools, and healthcare.
Some of the methods we use include MI, the Safety Circle, and Functional Family Therapy (FFT).
Your Competence
The position requires a higher education degree of at least 180 higher education credits, which means a bachelor's degree or equivalent such as:
- social worker
- social educator (only if the higher education is approved with 180 credits)
- behavioral scientist
- another approved and completed three-year higher education or university degree of at least 180 credits that the employer assesses as equivalent education
We prefer that you have experience in treatment work with children/youth, experience working with problematic school attendance, domestic violence, substance abuse, as well as experience with some of the methods used.
To be successful as a family therapist with us, you should be engaged, persistent, and curious about people. Furthermore, you should be confident in yourself and your professional role. You should be able to meet people in need of social services support in a clear and trustworthy manner.
We will also place great importance on the following:
- You work well with complex issues involving many stakeholders and have good collaboration skills
- You are goal- and result-oriented and take initiative to facilitate changes in treatment work
- You have good empathetic skills, are structured, and can document your work.
Good knowledge of the Swedish language is required, both in reading comprehension, listening comprehension, writing, and speaking, and you have good computer skills.
A valid driver's license is a requirement for the position.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
