The Department of Individual and Labor Market Affairs (IAF) consists of Individual and Family Care, Labor Market, and Adult Education. The department is divided into four operational areas: Work and Support, Children, Youth and Family, Substance Abuse and Mental Health, and Adult Education.

Within the operational area of Work and Support, we focus on providing the municipal residents we assist with the support they need to become self-sufficient through work or studies. One of our strengths is working together in cross-professional teams around our participants. Our staff needs to collaborate closely with each other to succeed in our shared mission.

We are now looking for an integration officer for the Integration Team. Here, you will be part of a working group consisting of various professions and competencies focused on the mission. The work is led by a unit manager and coordinator, and the unit also includes an integration advisor, two integration officers, three social workers for financial assistance, and an administrator. In the Integration Team, we want to provide individuals who meet us with the support and care they need to achieve independence in Swedish society.

Your contribution as an integration officer

As an integration officer, your tasks will include receiving newly arrived individuals assigned to the municipality by the Migration Agency. You are also expected to guide, inform, and support people into Swedish society. In your work, you will also develop individual plans and collaborate with, among others, social services, the Employment Agency, and SFI to make the establishment period as valuable and efficient as possible.

To succeed in the role of integration officer, good communication skills and a strong ability to collaborate in a team are required. You are solution-focused and structured while being proactive and taking initiatives to achieve the organization's goals.

Your qualifications and experience

You who are applying need to have at least a two-year post-secondary education in social work, behavioral science, or another education that the employer deems appropriate. It is an advantage if you have basic training in Motivational Interviewing.

We also want you to have experience working with the target group of newly arrived/foreign-born individuals. A B driver's license is a requirement.

It is an advantage to have previous experience in receiving newly arrived individuals and/or experience in integration work. You have knowledge of the asylum and migration process. You have cultural competence and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect oneself and others. You are well acquainted with the Swedish societal system and have previous experience collaborating with other authorities and a good ability to cooperate well with other departments, authorities, and external contacts.

The role also requires you to be flexible. The integration area is changing, and legislative changes will be implemented, which may affect your daily work. This will require your ability to adapt to changing conditions. You also need to be attentive with understanding and respect for those you meet and their different conditions and experiences.

You need to have good skills in expressing yourself in speech and writing in Swedish as some administration is included in the positions. It is an advantage if you speak one or more languages from non-European regions.

You also need to have good computer skills and basic knowledge of the most common Office programs. Previous experience with the operational systems Treserva and/or Lifecare is an advantage.
