Job ResponsibilitiesAs an audiologist, you will work with diagnosing and habilitating/rehabilitating individuals of all ages with hearing impairments and other hearing-related conditions such as tinnitus and sound sensitivity. The profession is independent and involves finding solutions to hearing problems based on individual needs, primarily through the fitting of hearing aids.
Being an audiologist is a licensed profession, and you often work in teams with other professionals such as social workers, educators, engineers, and doctors.
Additional InformationThe audiology program consists of 180 higher education credits, equivalent to three years of full-time study. The audiologist profession is interdisciplinary, and the education includes courses in audiology (the study of hearing), medicine, technology, pedagogy, and psychology. The program is currently offered at Örebro University, Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, University of Gothenburg, and Lund University. You will have an employment with Region Dalarna from which you will be on leave during the semesters and will receive a study salary of 18,000 SEK per month. The study period is both vacation- and pension-qualifying. During the summer break, you will work at one of our hearing centers to learn more about our operations and get into the practical work. You will then be employed and paid as an assistant and will also have the opportunity to take a few weeks of paid vacation. Once you have obtained your audiologist license, you will be offered a permanent position as an audiologist at one of the hearing centers in Borlänge, Falun, or Mora. Our study salary agreement means that you commit to working as an audiologist in Region Dalarna for at least as long as you have received the study salary after completing your studies.
Note! The number of study salary positions has not yet been determined. Selection and job offers may therefore be adjusted based on available positions.
QualificationsRequirements for the position:
- You have been admitted to the audiology program at one of Örebro University, Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, University of Gothenburg, or Lund University. Those who are currently studying audiology are also welcome to apply.
- You have a genuine interest in the audiologist profession and a desire to live and work in Dalarna.
- Good language skills in Swedish, both spoken and written.
- You are service-oriented and have good collaboration skills.
To be successful in the role of audiologist, you should be interested in working with technology, medicine, and people. You should have the ability to connect with and be responsive to patients' wishes. The technological development in the hearing field is rapid, and the work requires you to stay updated in the field.
