School Nurse at the Child and Student Health Center

Are you a nurse with a specialization in children and youth, open health care, or school nursing, and would you like to work with us at the Child and Student Health Center in Falun municipality? Now you have the chance to be part of the Child and Student Resource Unit - a team currently consisting of school nurses and school doctors.

We currently have two positions, one placed at Bjursås School and Sågmyra School. The other position is primarily at Hosjö School. Both positions are full-time, but one has the possibility for part-time. As we view development work very positively, you can also take leave for research for part of the time. If you are particularly interested in documentation and data journals, we see that as a positive aspect as well.

The Child and Student Health Center is a new, coordinated support organization that came into effect on January 1, 2026, creating conditions for early and effective interventions – for every child's right to support at the right time. The organization particularly focuses on preventive and promotional work in schools and preschools, to strengthen children's and students' opportunities to develop, feel good, and reach their full potential.

The Child and Student Health Center consists of several teams, one of which is the medical part of student health. It also includes three child and student support units with interdisciplinary teams, as well as a child and student support unit with special educators, speech therapists, and hospital schools. Together, we promote natural collaboration between preschools, schools, and social services. The interdisciplinary work is characterized by learning across professional boundaries and a willingness to find solutions together. Each unit is led by a unit manager.

As a school nurse in the Child and Student Resource Unit, you will be part of an exciting development journey – with the opportunity to make a real difference for children and youth in Falun municipality.

Job Responsibilities

The position involves health-promoting and preventive work, health talks/health examinations, vaccinations, etc., at both individual and group levels, according to the established national basic program. As a school nurse, you will participate in the student health work at the relevant schools. You will collaborate with both internal and external actors, and you must have a strong interest in working with children and youth. To ensure you feel secure in your new workplace, you will receive an introduction. We also work in groups with colleagues at nearby schools for additional support, and our workgroup has a wealth of expertise where we support each other. We have a digital method support, and documentation occurs in PMO (data journal). Guidance is provided continuously in collegial learning groups, and we see development work as important to us. Training is provided based on needs.

Qualifications

The following is required for the role:

• You must be a licensed nurse with a specialization in one of the following areas: children and youth, open health care, or school nurse training
• You must have a B driver's license
• Since you will be staffing several schools, you need access to a car. Compensation according to agreement will be provided for this.

The school nurse is often the only professional of their kind at the school. This means you must be:

• Able to make independent decisions and know when to consult a colleague, school doctor, or other healthcare provider
• Able to seek knowledge that is scientific and evidence-based
• Able to organize and plan your work

Desirable Qualifications

• Previous work with children and youth
• Experience with school nursing
• Experience from your own practice
• Computer skills
• Interest in development work, especially in collaboration with other professionals to support youth and their families

Employment Conditions

Permanent employment on a full-time basis with the possibility of part-time, starting on August 26, 2026, or by agreement.
