We are now looking for a medical assistant for the summer of 2026 for the first time. The urgent care center opened on June 1, 2021, and operates 24/7, welcoming patients who can seek care directly. The urgent care center is part of good and close care, and through increased accessibility, it creates security and closer care for the population of Västerbergslagen. It will be a modern digital reception. Our mission is to provide emergency care for children and adults that cannot be postponed but does not require the resources of a hospital.

We work in two teams: the triage team and the field team, where all employees take a lot of responsibility for their tasks and we strive for everyone to have their own areas of responsibility. All our patients come via drop-in and are assessed in the first step by a nurse and nursing assistant in triage. The field team then takes over, and the patient is managed further by a doctor or assessed and treated by a nurse depending on the triage color and reason for seeking care.

The job includes assisting in various procedures and assessing patients. You will meet patients of all ages with conditions that need to be assessed urgently. Common conditions you will encounter include various types of infections, respiratory problems, suspected fractures, wounds, eye problems, mild abdominal pain, and allergies, etc. You will manage and assess patients with guidance from an experienced nurse and with support from another doctor on site.

Communication/information and close collaboration with all professional categories are important for the work to flow smoothly. We use the Cosmic journal system since autumn 2025 and utilize the assessment support RETTS.

The urgent care center operates around the clock, with shifts during the day, evening, and/or night as well as weekends. Night shifts are not applicable for medical assistants.

We are looking for medical students who have completed semester 8 or later; previous experience in healthcare, such as emergency care, primary care, inpatient care, or similar, is advantageous.
