Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Västerås is Hiring Nurses

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the hospital in Västerås is looking for you who want to help provide the best care for critically ill patients. Care is provided around the clock, every day of the year. You will work with advanced technology and highly specialized care alongside a dedicated and knowledgeable team.

Job Responsibilities

As a nurse in the ICU, you will work closely with patients in acute need of intensive care. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, consisting of nursing assistants, doctors, and physiotherapists, who together plan and implement care. You will play a crucial role in the entire care process and have the opportunity to make a real difference in patients' lives.

The department is high-tech, and after internal training, you will receive certification for medical technical equipment. We invest in continuous development and have several responsibility groups that drive improvement work. Additionally, you will receive comprehensive onboarding for 10 weeks, with the possibility of extension, and a mentor during your first year to help you feel secure and develop in your role.

About the Workplace

Intensive care is one of the most dynamic and educational specialties in healthcare. The Intensive Care Unit at Västmanlands Hospital Västerås is focused on general intensive care. We currently have up to 8 beds and approximately 850 patients per year. Our goal is to eventually increase the number of beds. Here, you will meet patients of all ages with various diagnoses, so the variation is as great as the competence is high. It is exciting to be part of this advanced form of care!

In the surgical clinic, to which the ICU belongs, we use a time valuation model. This leads to better schedules with opportunities for recovery when working on rotation. The employment entails a collective responsibility for staffing every day and hour. The calculations in the model are based on a full-time measure of 38.25 hours per week. For night work only, the weekly working time is 32 hours as a full-time measure.

Qualifications

You who are applying are a nurse with specialist training in intensive or anesthesia nursing. Experience from intensive care work is certainly an advantage.

We also welcome you who are a registered nurse with at least 2 years of experience in emergency care. It is important that you have an interest and a willingness to pursue specialist training as an ICU nurse in the future.

We are looking for a responsible and committed nurse who wants to help develop and improve care with a patient-centered focus.

We believe that you enjoy working in a team and see the value in collaboration to achieve the best possible results. In our unit, the work pace is sometimes intense and sometimes calmer, which requires you to be flexible and able to handle changes in pace and planning. We are looking for someone who enjoys challenges and is curious about developing in their work – there is much to learn here!

Employment Conditions

Permanent employment, rotation or night shift. Full-time. Start date by agreement.
