Stroke and Medicine Department Kullbergska Hospital Katrineholm

Are you a nurse looking to work in a cutting-edge stroke and medicine department?

About us

We are a stroke department that is documented to be one of the best in Sweden. The care we provide has been recognized by Riksstroke for two consecutive years, which is a national quality register we are active in. We are very proud of these recognitions, and in 2023 we achieved our goal and became the Stroke Unit of the Year 2023.

We work in two care teams, each consisting of one nurse and two nursing assistants. The patients in the department have various medical conditions, primarily we care for stroke, medicine, and orthopedic/rehab patients. As a nurse with us, you will gain a broad foundation for your future career.

The stroke department consists of a wonderful group of employees who now need to expand the nursing team.

You should be curious, flexible, and able to adapt to a varied work environment and pace. To ensure that you get the best possible start with us, we offer an individually tailored onboarding process. If you are newly graduated, you will be invited to participate in our hospital-wide introduction program for new nurses, which takes place during your working hours. We also have care leaders and stroke nurses available as support and mentors during the first six months. Every week we have category meetings that provide opportunities for reflection and development in your professional role. We have internal competence development every other week as well as opportunities for internal training in stroke competence if desired. We support and help each other!

Your tasks

We work in teams consisting of nurses, nursing assistants, discharge coordinators, and medical secretaries. Doctors and paramedical staff are available in the department at certain times to support the work.

Together, we work purposefully to create a safe and secure journey through care for our patients.

  • You are responsible for patient care.
  • You should be able to assess the patient's care needs.
  • Administer medications as prescribed.
  • Document according to HSL.
  • Maintain contact with relatives and external actors such as the municipality.
  • Act as a team leader.
  • Guide new staff and students.

Your qualifications

You are a licensed nurse. Experience in inpatient care is an advantage but not a requirement. We are looking for a flexible person who appreciates a varied workday with opportunities to learn a lot on the job. You should easily collaborate with different professions and be open to changes. We place great importance on being attentive and making efforts where the need is greatest.
