Welcome to apply for the position of school counselor at Västhorjaskolan and Bredaryds skola.

Västhorjaskolan is a new F-3 school located in central Värnamo, with approximately 300 students. Bredaryds skola is an F-6 school with about 200 students.

Responsibilities

As a counselor, you will be responsible, together with the school management and other members of the student health team, for ensuring that the student health efforts contribute to the students' achievement of goals and provide good conditions for health and learning.

According to the Education Act, student health should primarily work in a health-promoting and preventive manner. The school counselor brings psychosocial competence to the school at the individual, group, and organizational levels and works on behalf of the principal.

As a school counselor, you work based on proven experience and evidence with psychosocial interventions directly aimed at groups or individual students. You work solution-focused and always try to see the positive aspects and build from there. Your tasks include conducting group-oriented interventions, having individual conversations with students, conducting assessments, and guiding staff in certain cases. The role also involves liaising with other authorities.

You will receive regular group supervision and be part of a professional group with other school counselors in the municipality.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a trained social worker or has another equivalent behavioral science education and has knowledge of social services law and school governing documents.

You can organize and prioritize work effectively to achieve results. As a person, you are proactive, curious, positive, and develop yourself by engaging with new research and collaborating with other colleagues. The work requires good collaboration skills, a holistic view, and flexibility.

You are comfortable working in both small and large groups of students and staff. You find it easy to collaborate and build good working relationships. Experience working with children and youth is desirable.

A criminal record extract is mandatory when working with children. We place great importance on personal suitability and would like you to attach a personal letter and CV.

Conditions

The position is a temporary contract. The position will be filled subject to the necessary decisions being made.
