In Trelleborg, we work together for a growing successful community where it is good to live. Our 61 villages and 21 districts are creative meeting places that bubble with life. Here we want things, talk about them, and come just as we are. This means we welcome others in the same generous and curious way.

Welcome to take your place on the journey!

The Workplace

The Department of Functional Support is divided into three units: authority unit, particularly resource-intensive unit, and traditional unit.

We are now looking for you to join the particularly resource-intensive unit as a support assistant who creates a calm and safe environment for our youngest users. Our short-term and leisure activities are aimed at children and young people with disabilities who have decisions according to LSS § 9. We are located in various premises in northern Trelleborg.

The purpose of the operation is both to provide relief for parents and to offer a change of environment for children and young people, as well as to support their development in everyday life. In our short-term and leisure activities, we work from a salutogenic perspective while supporting and training the children in what they want to improve. Our goal is to adapt and strengthen the individual’s ability to live an independent life with good living conditions.

The work in short-term and leisure activities is varied, fun, and developmental. In addition to everyday support, the job involves doing activities together with the children and young people.

What We Can Offer You

  • Varied work
  • Professional development
  • Cross-municipal benefits
  • The best colleagues

Job Responsibilities

As a support assistant, you are a key person in supporting and guiding children and young people/users based on a pedagogical and practical approach in their everyday lives, including care/hygiene, activities, cooking, and skills training. All with the aim of increasing the users' independence.

Based on the users' implementation plan, you will work to establish, drive, and follow up on the goals of the implementation plan and realize the highest possible quality and participation in everyday life. Additionally, you will consider individual needs and conditions with a strong child focus where influence and self-determination are central. You have a legal obligation to document and to follow and establish implementation plans.

With good and clear communication and a positive attitude, your task is to create calm and safety for the children and young people/users regardless of the situation. You will have evidence-based methods such as KASAM, low-arousal approach, and clarifying pedagogy at your disposal.

Threats and violence may occur in the workplace, which means you are expected to work in a low-arousal manner and adapt your approach based on the user's needs and issues. You work from a solution-focused perspective and need to handle unforeseen events calmly and safely. Night work in short-term/leisure activities is solitary work.

Within the internal organization, you will primarily collaborate with other support assistants, support educators, and management to continuously develop the operation and achieve set goals.

Qualifications

For the role of night support assistant in short-term leisure activities, we are looking for someone who has:

  • A high school diploma from the child and leisure program, preferably with a focus on social work or pedagogy, or alternatively from the health and care program, preferably with a focus on disabilities. Alternatively, other education that the employer assesses as equivalent.
  • You should have previous experience with documentation. Since communication and documentation are important parts of the operation, we expect you to have a good command of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Work experience with the target group of children and young people with neuropsychiatric disabilities (NPF) is preferred, as well as experience working with sign language support, clarifying pedagogy, and/or low-arousal approaches. Perhaps you have experience in the school environment and are curious to further develop with the target group in another type of operation?
  • A driving license for a manual transmission vehicle is preferred.

In addition to the above, you are a calm and secure person with good self-awareness. You have a strong user focus and always operate under the belief that "Children do right if they can." You are responsible and see opportunities rather than obstacles. You are flexible, open, and see possibilities instead of barriers. You use your analytical skills and strive to improve the operation for our users. In this recruitment, we place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Before an employment offer, an acceptable extract from the police criminal record must be presented along with identification documents.
