Job Responsibilities

Do you want to make a difference every day? Gottorpskolan (grades 7–9) is looking for an engaged teacher in handicrafts with a focus on textiles who wants to contribute to our students' development and future. With us, you will have the opportunity to grow in your professional role alongside competent and driven colleagues. You will:

  • teach textile handicrafts.
  • be a mentor and, in collaboration with guardians, support students' journey towards becoming independent and responsible individuals.
  • actively participate in the school's development work where we strive to move from assessment anxiety to development joy for both students and teachers.

At Gottorpskolan, you will collaborate weekly during meeting times with both your subject colleagues and team colleagues. You work closely with other teachers, teams, student health, and school management to give all students the opportunity to reach as far as they can. Collaboration with guardians and other stakeholders is a natural part of your work.

Qualifications

We are primarily looking for someone who is a qualified and certified teacher in handicrafts with a focus on textiles for grades 7-9, and secondarily for someone who has a strong command of the subject and experience in teaching. You have good knowledge of the school's governing documents and use them naturally in your daily work. With your pedagogical skills, you lead the teaching and create a safe and inspiring learning environment. You develop your teaching with support from research and are skilled in using both analog and digital tools effectively. You have a professional approach and build good relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. We are looking for a person who wants to contribute to both students' and the school's development, and who sees the value in collaboration and community.

About the Workplace

You will be offered a workplace where you have the opportunity to influence, develop, and be an important part of students' futures. Gottorpskolan is a modern secondary school with functional premises in Bunkeflostrand, just outside Malmö. Here, over 550 students in grades 7–9 attend, and we have about 70 employees who together create a safe and stimulating learning environment. Since we receive students from many different schools, we place great emphasis on creating secure transitions to grade 7.

At Gottorpskolan, relationships are at the center – because we know that good relationships are the key to learning. Our social group with student coordinators and social pedagogues focuses on safety and study peace, and leads the systematic work for increased attendance. For several years, we have been conducting exchanges within the framework of Erasmus+ and have classes in each grade within the MFF academy. We are pleased to offer an after-school club program in music, literature, and chess. Our bright and well-equipped library is run by a school librarian who contributes to the joint language development work. We offer a cohesive faculty with a strong will and ability to welcome and support new colleagues. Leadership is close and engaged, and we care about both students' and staff's development. The work environment and well-being are central parts of our operations – we want both students and employees to feel motivated and well at our school.

The School Administration – the city's largest administration with about 80 schools, 6300 employees, and 36000 students offers a workplace for everyone. Here we want to grow, develop, and challenge ourselves in our learning together – every day. We ensure that everyone has a good work environment and invest in leadership. Together, we all work for each student's best school!

The City of Malmö's operations are organized into 14 administrations. Our common mission is to create welfare and sustainable community development. Together with the residents of Malmö, we are developing an even better city to live, work, and be in; differences, life experiences, and talents make Malmö a smart city in the heart of Europe. The world's knowledge is here.
