Workplace Description

The Department of Computer Science, LTH, is seeking approximately 80 teaching assistants for study period 4, 2026.

Job Responsibilities

The teaching assistants will primarily assist with teaching in the department's courses and support course leaders with related tasks, such as grading assignments, conducting Q&A sessions, course development, assisting with the installation of course computer environments on students' personal computers, and other administration depending on current needs.

The teaching assistants will be engaged in the following courses:

  • EDAA35-Evaluation of Software Systems
  • EDAA40/EDAA75-Discrete Structures in Computer Science
  • EDAA70-Introductory Programming with Python
  • EDAA80/85/90 Programming Techniques (second half of the course)
  • EDAF05-Algorithms, Data Structures, and Complexity
  • EDAF60-Object-Oriented Modeling and Design (exam grading)
  • EDAF75-Database Technology (exam grading)
  • EDAF95/EDAN40-Functional Programming
  • EDAG05-Agile Software Development
  • EDAN15-Design of Embedded Systems
  • EDAP30-Advanced Applied Machine Learning

Teaching assistants may also be engaged in other courses if the need arises.

Working hours are scheduled during teaching times, Monday to Friday between 08:00-17:00. There are fixed times for each course.

Qualifications

Eligible for employment as a teaching assistant is someone who is admitted to education at the undergraduate or graduate level at the faculty (or related subject for the joint institutions). The degree must not be completed.

Requirements for the position are:

  • Good grades from courses in computer science.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
  • Outgoing, able to easily make contact with others, and possess good pedagogical skills.

Meritorious for the position is:

  • Previous teaching experience as a teaching assistant in computer science, part-time teaching assistant, or other pedagogical experience.
  • Completed pedagogical course for teaching assistants or other pedagogical training.
  • Other courses in subjects relevant to the course the applicant wishes to work as a teaching assistant in.

We will place great emphasis on personal suitability. Consideration will be given to good collaboration skills, as well as how the applicant is assessed to complement and strengthen the teaching within the department through their experience and competence.

Other

The department is seeking approximately 80 teaching assistants for study period 4, 2026. The employment is temporary from 2026-03-23 to 2026-06-07 or by agreement. The extent may vary up to a maximum of 50% by agreement. The employment must not negatively affect the assistant's studies. Regulations regarding educational employment as a teaching assistant can be found in the Higher Education Ordinance (SFS 2017:284), Chapter 5, Sections 8-12. The employment is covered by the Working Hours Agreement for teachers.
