Make a Difference. Every Day.
We are an integrated department of pulmonary medicine and thoracic surgery (general thoracic surgery). This provides the staff with broad knowledge and competence regarding respiratory care and postoperative thoracic surgical care. In pulmonary medicine, we care for patients with interstitial lung diseases, cystic fibrosis, lung cancer, chronic hypoventilation, and complications after lung transplantation. In general thoracic surgery, we operate on and care for patients with malignancies in the thorax, including primary lung cancer and metastases. We also take care of patients with tracheostomy and home ventilators, as well as training personal assistants.
In the department, as a nurse, you will handle advanced medical technology equipment such as HFNC, telemetry monitoring, blood gas instruments, and pain pumps for postoperative thoracic patients. As a nurse in the lung department, you will gain high competence in assessing airways and breathing.
For us, it is a given that all professions work together for person-centered care. The team consists of nurses, nursing assistants, physiotherapists, medical secretaries, and doctors. We offer all newly hired nurses an introduction based on previous experiences. In 2024, an integrated training package started with lectures once a week for ten weeks, providing in-depth knowledge about the various areas we operate in, such as ventilation, thoracic oncology, general and specialized pulmonary medicine, and thoracic surgical care. Everyone's thoughts and ideas on how we can continuously improve and develop our working methods are welcome. If you, as a nurse, want to be involved in any improvement area, this is a workplace where you have the opportunity to make an impact.
We have the best view in Skåne from the 12th floor in Blocket.
