Make a Difference. Every Day.

Are you curious about working in transplantation and kidney care? Do you want to help develop kidney and transplantation healthcare for the future? Then you are the one we are looking for!

The department is located in the new hospital on the 9th floor with a fantastic view over Malmö. The operation has grown significantly over the past year to meet the future needs of kidney care. All patients have single rooms. Everything is new and modernized in terms of facilities, equipment, and working methods, leading to new opportunities to develop the operation. As an employee, you are part of the journey and play an important role as you have the opportunity to participate and influence the department's routines and working methods.

The Kidney and Transplantation Department is part of the area of operation (VO) nephrology, rheumatology, and endocrinology. The department is a hybrid unit where we care for patients who are to be or have been transplanted, as well as patients within nephrology. This autumn, we have started caring for hospitalist patients from surgery and urology. In other words, an exciting mix that gives you a broad competence.

In nephrology, we care for patients with both acute and chronic diseases. Examples of diagnoses include vasculitis, nephrotic syndrome, various forms of nephritis, etc. We assist patients in obtaining access (insertion) for dialysis initiation and address issues with existing accesses. Transplant surgery consists of both planned and urgent kidney transplants. Sometimes we also care for patients before and after pancreas transplants. Another important aspect is rejection problems after transplantation that require treatment. Following a severely kidney-ill patient who has been transplanted and then leaves the department with a functioning kidney again is very rewarding.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The department currently has 24 care places on weekdays and 18 on weekends, with plans to open up to 24 around spring 2025. We work divided into teams consisting of a nurse and a nursing assistant. Each team is responsible for six to seven patients together with the responsible medical team, and together you plan the tasks for the shift. Support functions such as coordinators, operations, physiotherapists, pharmacists, occupational therapists, dietitians, and social workers are also part of the staff. Patients come to us both electively and acutely, so the pace and workload can vary throughout the day.

As a new employee with us, you will receive an individual introduction based on your existing competence. If you have previous experience, we will tailor the introduction to your conditions.

The operation offers you a varied, stimulating, and educational workplace where you have the opportunity for personal development and training. Since development is important to us, you are expected to participate in the department's ongoing development work. Competence development occurs continuously both internally and externally.

We work two weekends out of five and have a fixed schedule. We need new employees for both day/evening and night shifts.
