The Department of Information Technology holds a leading position in both research and education at all levels.
We are currently Uppsala University's third largest department with over 350 employees, including 120 teachers and 120 doctoral students. Approximately 5000 undergraduate students take one or more courses at the department each year. We are now looking for students who want to work as teaching assistants in period 4.
Job Responsibilities
Participation in teaching in one or more of the listed courses below. Participation in teaching includes, for example, attending laboratories and lectures, grading assignments, answering students' questions, and supervising student projects. Courses marked SVE are taught in Swedish, while those marked ENG are taught in English. Applications are accepted through Uppsala University's recruitment system. Period 4:
- 1DT350 Independent Project in Information Technology (SVE)
- 1DL931 Independent Project in Systems in Technology and Society – IT Systems (SVE)
The courses are taught in Swedish, but students are expected to write their reports and deliver presentations in English. In some exceptional cases, a student group may choose to write their report in Swedish. If you have not been a teaching assistant before, the responsibilities also include a mandatory introductory day.
Qualifications
Employment as a teaching assistant is regulated by the Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 5. Only those who are admitted to undergraduate or advanced level education may be employed as teaching assistants (HF Chapter 5 §10). The applicant must demonstrate good academic results, particularly in the area of the course they will assist with, as well as very good knowledge of Swedish (only for courses taught in Swedish) and English, both spoken and written.
Desirable/meritorious
Previous experience in supervising development projects, typically including databases and mobile applications, is particularly meritorious. Previous experience in participating in teaching relevant courses at the university level is also particularly meritorious. Experience with relevant IT systems (Studium) is desirable, as well as good knowledge of Uppsala University's organization.

The application should include a letter where the applicant briefly describes their experience in teaching, language, and knowledge (e.g., study certificates). The application should also specify which courses the applicant is interested in and an estimate of the number of hours they wish to work (per course and period, with the total hours summing to 30, 45, 60, 90, or 120). Please attach your registration certificate as well.
About the Employment
The employment is temporary according to HF Chapter 5 § 12 until June 21, 2026, or as agreed. The extent is 5-50% depending on which period(s) and how many hours you work. Start date is March 9, 2026, or as agreed. Place of employment: Uppsala
