Job Advertisement: Teaching Assistant at the Department of Information Technology

The Department of Information Technology holds a leading position in both research and education at all levels.

We are currently the third largest department at Uppsala University, with over 350 employees, including 120 teachers and 120 doctoral students. Approximately 5000 undergraduate students take one or more courses at the department each year. We are now looking for students who want to work as teaching assistants in period 4.

Job Responsibilities

Participation in teaching for one or more of the listed courses below. Participation in teaching includes, for example, attending labs and lectures, grading assignments, answering students' questions, and supervising student projects. Courses marked SVE are taught in Swedish, and those marked ENG are taught in English. Applications are accepted in Uppsala University's recruitment system.   • 1MD016 Human-Computer Interaction (Distance), ENG
  • 1MD043 Human-Robot Interaction, ENG
  • 1MD044 Human-Robot Interaction with Research Project, ENG
  • 1MD045 Human-Robot Interaction with Research Project, ENG
  • 1MD046 User Interfaces: Programming and Evaluation, ENG

If you have not been a teaching assistant before, the job responsibilities also include a mandatory introduction day.

Qualifications

Employment as a teaching assistant is regulated by the Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 5. Only those who are admitted to undergraduate or advanced level education may be employed as teaching assistants (HF Chapter 5 §10). The applicant must demonstrate good academic performance, particularly in the subject area of the course they will assist with, as well as very good proficiency in Swedish (only for courses taught in Swedish) and English, both spoken and written.

Desirable/meritorious qualifications

Previous experience in (Interface) programming and UX/interaction design is particularly meritorious. Previous experience in participating in teaching relevant courses at the university level is also particularly meritorious. Experience with relevant IT systems (Studium) is desirable, as well as good knowledge of Uppsala University's organization.

The application should include a letter where the applicant briefly describes their experience in teaching, language skills, and knowledge (e.g., study certificates). The application should also include which courses the applicant is interested in and an estimate of the number of hours they wish to work (per course and period, with the total hours summing to 30, 45, 60, 90, or 120). About the Employment

The employment is temporary according to HF Chapter 5 § 12 until June 21, 2026, or by agreement. The extent is 5-50% depending on which period(s) and how many hours you work. Start date is March 9, 2026, or by agreement. Location: Uppsala
