The Position

The position is placed within the administration of Operational Support and Services, which is one of eight administrations in Linköping Municipality. Within the administration, the municipality's internal services and support functions are gathered. We contribute to the development of the municipality's operations and cross-municipal service solutions.

Your Responsibilities

As an economist, you have overall responsibility for financial management and serve as a stable support for the managers of the operations. Your role involves varied tasks in a combination of ongoing financial work and operational follow-up. You will also work with qualified controller tasks, where you, with the support of our experienced controller, contribute to deeper analyses and strategic management.

Your responsibilities as an economist include:

  • Working with ongoing bookkeeping, reconciliations, and year-end closing work.
  • With the support of the controller, performing budgeting, analysis, forecasting, and strategic development.
  • Providing service to managers and acting as an expert in financial matters. Translating financial data into concrete insights through pedagogical analysis that helps the operations steer towards set goals.
  • Actively contributing to improving internal governance and control, as well as participating in the development of our shared routines within the finance function.
  • Ensuring that applicable laws, guidelines, and policies in the financial area are implemented and followed, and that financial documentation and reports maintain good quality.

You belong to a small finance function, but in our activity-based landscape, you will have the opportunity to network and find social exchange and work community with other departments. Your Workplace

Operational Support and Services (VSS) is an administration organized under the municipal executive board. VSS has a broad mandate by providing services and support to the municipality's administrations, municipal companies, and the residents of Linköping. Services within IT, recruitment, communication, and citizen services are examples of what lies within the mandate. The mandate also includes the activities of the guardianship committee. VSS strives to offer cost-effective and functional services with a digital focus. As an economist, you are part of the management support department that provides support to the administration's managers in various areas.

VSS is located in newly built premises in Ebbepark, centrally in Linköping. The work environment is an activity-based office landscape. Working hours are scheduled during the day, Monday to Friday, and we apply trust-based working hours.

Who You Are

We are looking for someone with post-secondary education in economics from a university, college, or vocational school and experience in ongoing financial work. You are driven by development work and want to contribute to an efficient administration. We consider it an advantage if you have previous experience working with financial management. If you also have previous experience in financial work within the public sector - then you are the one we are looking for!

You are fluent in Swedish, both spoken and written, which is crucial as you will have many contacts and produce important documentation. It is an advantage if you have also worked in Qlik Sense and Unit4.
