Workplace Description

The City of Stockholm organizes summer camps for children, youth, and young adults with disabilities.

Our summer camps are located in beautiful natural environments on Väddö and in Sörmland. Being at camp means a change of environment, fun outdoor activities, and social interaction with others for our participants. For relatives, it provides relief in everyday life. Many of our employees have worked at our camps for a long time and return annually. Working as a camp leader is rewarding and educational, as you contribute to giving our participants a wonderful and memorable vacation filled with joy and relaxation.

We are now looking for staff for our camp during the summer of 2026 between June 11 - August 17. We see that you, as an applicant, can work at least 2 of the periods:

  • Period 1: June 11 - June 26
  • Period 2: June 28 - July 13
  • Period 3: July 15 - July 30 or July 15 - July 26
  • Period 4: August 1 - August 17 or July 28 - August 9

We are looking for you who enjoy working together with others and want to help create a meaningful stay for our participants.

Björkängen (Sörmland, Fiskeboda Course Center)

Participants with intellectual disabilities, mobility impairments, and significant care needs come here. At Björkängen, only your imagination limits what can be found. You will be the participants' extended arm and provide extensive support in ADL and communication. We use mobility and communication aids and manage daily medication.

Here, you need to be attentive and interested in non-verbal communication. It is an advantage if you have previously worked as a personal assistant and/or have knowledge of cerebral palsy or epilepsy.

Skogstorp and Granhill (Norrtälje, Children's Island)

Participants with autism and intellectual disabilities come here. This is a camp with many emotions, and your task as a camp leader is to support communication and ADL, address challenging behaviors, and offer activity balance. We use communication aids and always work in a low-arousal manner.

At Skogstorp, you need to be secure in your role, able to handle unforeseen events, and not afraid to face challenging situations. It is advantageous if you have previously worked with challenging behaviors and/or autism in, for example, schools or other care settings.

Larsbacken (Norrtälje, Children's Island)

Children and youth with high-functioning autism come here. We adapt our activities based on the participants' abilities, interests, and needs.

At Larsbacken, you need to be relationship-building and have a holistic view in collaboration with participants and colleagues. It is advantageous if you have worked in another educational setting and have experience with children and youth with NPF.

Grandungen (Sörmland, Fiskeboda Course Center)

Children and youth with moderate intellectual disabilities come here. At Grandungen, there is a high pace with many activities and excursions.

At Grandungen, you need to be relationship-building and provide support in communication and ADL. It is advantageous if you have worked in another educational setting.

Ekbacken (Sörmland, Fiskeboda Course Center)

We Offer

During the first two working days of each period, you will receive a thorough introduction to the job together with your new colleagues. You will learn the camp's routines, working methods, and participate in preparations for the participants' arrival. You will live together with your colleagues in the associated staff accommodation. We work according to a rolling schedule where working hours primarily occur during the day and evening.

Your Skills and Experience

To be suitable for the role, you need to be calm, stress-resistant, and have great patience. You are pedagogical in your communication and can easily adapt to different situations. You find it easy to collaborate and are confident in yourself and in contact with new people. In this recruitment, we place great importance on the aforementioned skills, personal suitability, and commitment.

Requirements for all positions:

  • High school education
  • Good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing
  • At least 1 year of work experience or equivalent
