Special Educator/Special Teacher for Viks School

Värmdö is part of the Stockholm archipelago and has a unique nature with over 10,000 islands. Here, land meets sea, just 30 minutes from Stockholm. In our historic main town, Gustavsberg, there is a long tradition of design and craftsmanship that continues through ongoing investments in art and culture. The municipality has nearly 40,000 residents, of which just over 10,000 live in Gustavsberg. We have a very young population, where one in four residents is under 15 years old. Värmdö is also one of the fastest-growing municipalities in the country. This dynamism is also reflected in Värmdö municipality as an employer.

Viks School is a municipal school located about 6 km east of Gustavsberg in an older area close to forest and sea. Viks School is a K-6 school with about 520 students and around 70 staff members. We place great importance on our shared values. We aim to be a school that breathes confidence and trust, where everyone feels safe and where everyone's opportunities to succeed are great. At Viks School, we want to highlight what is positive and emphasize what works well for all students and for each other. We are a school that wants to give our students an overview and context to grow as learners and independent individuals.

Viks School has a cultural focus, which means that we work with literature as an important foundation in teaching. It also means that we highlight our democratic mission through various cultural projects.

We are now looking for an overarching special educator and special teacher, which means that you will work both at a strategic level coordinating and leading special educational efforts as well as at an operational level with daily teaching of students.

You have a strong interest in teaching development and systematic quality work, you are a skilled mentor, and you always focus on students' development and learning while understanding the importance of good relationships with all students. Additionally, we hope you find it easy to collaborate and contribute collegially with your knowledge and expertise.

In your role, you will be part of the school's Student Health Team, which consists of school leaders, school counselors, school nurses, and school psychologists. At Viks School, we engage with guardians to a high degree; we believe in close collaboration for preventive and promotional work.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability, security in your professional role, and the ability to collaborate with all staff at the school.
