Healthcare Assistant at the Emergency Department

Since we work with a wide range of diseases, diagnoses, and conditions, you will have the opportunity to develop significantly in your profession in this role. You are the person who meets the patient when they arrive at the department, is available to answer questions, and helps the patient feel calm and safe. Your tasks include performing checks, taking samples, and assisting doctors with various procedures, such as suturing. The position is a temporary contract that extends until December 2026.

We are open around the clock, every day of the year, so you will have the opportunity for a great variety in your working hours. The position is a temporary contract at 75%, with the possibility to work up to 100% according to internal procedures if desired.

About You

We are looking for someone who is a trained healthcare assistant. Experience in emergency care is an advantage. To thrive with us, it is important that you have a genuine interest in people and possess an empathetic ability. We see that you communicate clearly and have the ability to create a sense of safety and calm in the patients you meet. Collaboration is of utmost importance to us, both within the team and between clinics. It is important that you can work independently and make your own decisions when required. You have a positive attitude and a good approach towards patients, relatives, and your colleagues. To succeed in this role, it is important that you master Swedish in both speech and writing. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

The Emergency Department at Västervik Hospital provides emergency care around the clock. At the emergency department, we care for surgical, orthopedic, medical, pediatric, eye, and ear patients. Our workplace is a well-functioning department with generally short processing times.
