Research Position in Rheumatology and Inflammation Research

At the Department of Medicine, Division of Rheumatology and Inflammation Research, the main theme of the research conducted is inflammation and inflammatory diseases, whether caused by allergy, infection, or autoimmune disease. The goal is to investigate the mechanisms underlying inflammation. Several of our researchers also work as specialist doctors at the clinics within Sahlgrenska University Hospital, which is a great asset, especially for translational research.

Our research group conducts translational studies in clinical and experimental arthritis aimed at mapping cellular and immunological mechanisms in chronic rheumatoid arthritis. The position involves research work specifically aimed at investigating how epigenetic regulatory mechanisms contribute to autoimmunity.

Responsibilities

Studies of intracellular signaling and transcription control mechanisms that induce arthritis. Transcription, epigenetics, and protein-protein interaction analyses using modern bioinformatics programs and tools. Teaching and supervision of master's students may be included.

Qualifications

A PhD is required. Extensive knowledge in cell and molecular biology and experience in analyzing next-generation sequencing data is required. When appointing, special emphasis will be placed on scientific competence in the relevant field. Practical skills in cell biological methods, gene expression analysis (qPCR), and protein expression (Western blot) are meritorious. Since the project involves advanced data analysis, great importance will be placed on accuracy, flexibility, communication, and personal initiative.

Employment type: Permanent position, part-time.
Scope: 50%
Location: Department of Medicine, Gothenburg
Start date: As soon as possible or by agreement.
