JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Are you attracted to enabling a developing and inclusive future for newly arrived children and youth? Then this could be a position for you! We are looking for an engaged mother tongue teacher! Come and shape Gävle's future with us.

The students should be given the opportunity to develop and consolidate subject knowledge based on their linguistic prerequisites. Therefore, we are now looking for mother tongue teachers in Bengali for Gävle municipality's primary schools. The work is carried out in collaboration with other educators, student health, and guardians.

As a mother tongue teacher in Bengali, your responsibilities will include:

• teaching the language
• teaching students about the culture and traditions of the countries where the language is spoken

The teaching follows a curriculum that has a comparative purpose, which means that you also need to have good Swedish language skills.

For students who struggle to meet the knowledge requirements or keep up with other subjects, you as a mother tongue teacher can support them through study guidance. This involves highlighting or deepening students' knowledge in an area where Swedish concepts need to be clarified and discussed in their mother tongue.

The position is 15% part-time.

Interviews are conducted on an ongoing basis, and the position may be filled before the advertisement has closed.

QUALIFICATIONS

To be able to perform the task, you need to:

• master Bengali fluently in both spoken and written form
• master Swedish fluently in both spoken and written form
• work according to the goals of the organization and follow planning

It is important that you:

• feel comfortable standing and speaking, reading, or writing in front of a larger group of children or youth
• have a relationship-building approach
• can create an open dialogue
• adapt your behavior according to the situation
• have a humble attitude in your collaboration with others
