About the Assignment

We are looking for a highly senior Optical Design Coordinator for an assignment with a globally leading technology company specializing in advanced systems and camera solutions for the automotive industry. In this role, you will be the technical link between internal development teams and customer-facing application projects, focusing on optical systems and camera usage in vehicles.

As an Optical Design Coordinator, you will represent Optical Systems in technical dialogues with OEMs and Tier-1 and Tier-2 suppliers. You will ensure correct assumptions for the use of camera systems (Assumptions of Use) and that installation and integration into vehicles are carried out in a technically robust and quality-assured manner.

Responsibilities
  • Be the technical primary contact for Optical Systems in customer and supplier meetings driven by application projects
  • Provide technical support and clarifications related to optical design and camera AoU
  • Lead and coordinate customer-specific technical investigations and optical design activities
  • Participate in and drive technical discussions and design reviews with OEMs, Tier-1, and Tier-2
  • Support after RFQ, including troubleshooting and handling technical customer inquiries
  • Ensure technical documentation, such as specifications, camera AoU, and agreements with suppliers
  • Ensure that incoming needs from application projects are handled in the Optical Systems backlog
  • Drive investigations regarding sensor performance together with sensor and camera suppliers
  • Coordinate work regarding light trap reflection properties and establish approved solutions together with the customer
  • Ensure which optical characterizations and data should be delivered for prototype cameras
  • Evaluate and test OEM proposals regarding opto-mechanical solutions, such as windshields and heating wires
  • Ensure correct test vehicle configuration
Requirements
  • At least 8 years of experience in systems engineering with a focus on optics and/or camera systems
  • Master's degree in engineering, physics, computer science, or equivalent (alternatively PhD with relevant experience)
  • Very high technical competence in optical design and camera systems
  • Experience in technical coordination and customer-facing work
  • Ability to work independently with great responsibility
  • Strong communication skills in both spoken and written form
  • Experience working in complex organizations where technical decisions affect multiple functions
Preferred
  • Experience in technical design reviews and collaboration with OEMs and Tier-1/Tier-2 suppliers
  • Experience in troubleshooting and handling technical customer inquiries after RFQ
