Lund University is seeking a lecturer in neurology

Job Responsibilities

The position is announced to ensure the needs of the undergraduate education in the field of neurology.

The main task is to lead and drive the education in neurology and to be the primary responsible for the subject area within the medical program. The holder should also be prepared to take on additional education-related assignments within the subject in the medical program, as well as other educational assignments at undergraduate and advanced levels in the Faculty of Medicine's other educational programs and within doctoral education. Since the medical program is conducted in Malmö, Lund, and Helsingborg and has clinical placements in other locations in the Southern healthcare region, the holder should be prepared for tasks to occur in more than one location.

In addition to the educational assignments, the position includes initiating, coordinating, and developing research in neurology and participating in doctoral education. The holder is also expected to take responsibility for the management and strategic development of both education and research within the subject area. The position also includes tasks that are normally associated with a position as a university lecturer, such as administration and internal and external trust assignments at national and international levels.

The position includes independent clinical practice.

Other tasks may also occur.

Eligibility

To be eligible for employment as a lecturer according to the Higher Education Ordinance 4 chap 4 §, the applicant must have demonstrated pedagogical skill, have obtained a doctoral degree or have equivalent scientific competence or other professional skills that are significant in relation to the subject matter of the position and the tasks that will be included in the position.

According to Lund University's employment regulations, the applicant must have completed higher education pedagogical training of at least five weeks or otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge to be eligible, unless there are special reasons. In the event that the holder is assessed to have special reasons for not having completed five weeks of higher education pedagogical training at the time of taking up the position, the holder must complete such training within two years from the start of the position.

As the tasks involve leading and developing as well as teaching within the undergraduate education primarily in the medical program, a Swedish or Nordic medical license and specialist competence in neurology, as well as very good knowledge of Swedish, are required at the time of appointment. Language proficiency in Swedish at least level C2 according to the Council of Europe's level scale is a requirement for the position.

For teachers at Lund University, the general eligibility requirement is to be suitable for and have the ability otherwise needed to perform the tasks well.

Assessment Criteria

The applicant must have demonstrated pedagogical, scientific, administrative, and clinical competence relevant to the subject, and particular emphasis will be placed on pedagogical competence in the assessment.

The applicant should demonstrate pedagogical competence relevant to the subject area both in education and in supervision at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels. This is shown through a good ability to plan, lead, develop, drive, and implement education as well as the ability to translate clinical competence into educational components. The ability to lead university education at undergraduate and advanced levels will be particularly meritorious.

Furthermore, the applicant must demonstrate scientific competence by conducting their own current research at a high national or international level. Scientific competence is demonstrated through publications in international scientific journals, grants obtained in competition, and experience of national and international research collaboration. Furthermore, scientific competence is demonstrated through research programs relevant to the subject and conditions for long-term career development.

The applicant should show a good ability for leadership, collaboration, and cooperation with the surrounding community.
