Student Support Assistants at Fåglasång Adapted Primary School

Do you want to work closely with students in a small and safe environment where pedagogy, care, and independence go hand in hand?

We are currently looking for two student support assistants for Fåglasång Adapted Primary School – one position to start as soon as possible and one starting in August 2026.

Both positions are permanent employment.

About the role and your responsibilities

Fåglasång is an adapted primary school for students studying subject areas from grades 1–9. The operation is characterized by small contexts, close adult support, and a clear focus on students with autism and intellectual disabilities.

As a student support assistant with us, you will work closely with one or a few students, often in individual or very small teaching contexts. The role involves pedagogical support combined with extensive care responsibilities, where relationships, safety, and structure are crucial.

The work regularly includes:

  • support in teaching and daily life based on the student’s individual needs.
  • assistance with dressing and undressing.
  • support during meal situations.
  • assistance during toilet visits, including diaper changes.
  • working closely with students in situations that require both physical and mental presence.

In your role as a student support assistant, you will:

  • actively work with structure, predictability, and clear pedagogical methods.
  • meet and manage stress and challenging behaviors with a low-arousal approach.
  • work with movement, outdoor activities, and physical activity as a natural part of the school day.
  • collaborate closely with teachers, other student support assistants, and guardians.
  • participate in excursions and activities outside the school area.

The care efforts are carried out with a clear goal of strengthening the students' independence and participation, based on each student's conditions.

We are looking for you

We are looking for someone who shares our fundamental belief that all students can develop, regardless of their developmental level, and who works to make students as independent as possible based on their individual circumstances.

You see care, teaching, and relationship work as interconnected parts of the student's development and work with clear goals, structure, and respectful communication in all situations of daily life.

We are looking for someone who:

  • has experience working with children and young people with autism and intellectual disabilities.
  • has worked with personal care, including toilet support and diaper changes.
  • is comfortable combining care work with a pedagogical and relationship-building approach.
  • can work independently but is also a team player who takes responsibility for communication and sees collaboration in the work team as a prerequisite for students' success.
  • is stable, empathetic, and professional in situations that can be demanding.
  • has a very good ability to speak, understand, and write Swedish without limitations, as the work requires close communication and documentation.

You have a high school or post-secondary education in child and youth work, health and care, social work, or another education that the employer deems equivalent. You have knowledge of and experience with low-arousal approaches, as well as knowledge of AAC/sign language support and the use of digital tools in working with students.

Fåglasång is located in Södra Sandby, beautifully situated next to Fågelsångsdalen. The operation is characterized by closeness, small student groups, and a strong connection between care, teaching, and movement. Students and staff often spend time outdoors, and outdoor pedagogy is a natural part of the school day.

Fåglasång is part of the Nyvång school area together with two other adapted primary schools in Dalby. Within the school area, there is an established collaboration between the operations, where experiences, competencies, and working methods are shared to strengthen quality and equity in teaching.
