Are you ready for the front line of psychiatry?

Welcome to become a part of a team that works with heart, sharpness, and commitment – when it is needed the most.

At Vrinnevisjukhuset in Norrköping, we are looking for nurses who want to make a difference when life wavers. Here in the psychiatric and addiction emergency department as well as in PIVA, you meet patients in acute crisis – often in life’s most vulnerable moments. It is intense, meaningful, and full of human encounters. Choose whether you want to work in the emergency department, in the intensive care unit – or combine both for a dynamic and developing role.

Our offer

For life ahead. Region Östergötland has high ambitions and a responsible mission. It is about health and care, about the development of our region, and about those who live and stay here. We want to continue to be at the forefront, with care, research, and education. This means daring to think anew – and having the best employees. Therefore, we offer unique opportunities for further learning and invest in modern environments with effective systems and tools. Many of us meet patients and relatives, while others create the conditions for life-saving interventions. With us, fantastic people work towards the same goal – to make a real difference, and for life ahead.

The psychiatric and addiction emergency department receives patients around the clock with acute mental/addiction conditions. Here you work in a team with doctors and assistants, make independent assessments, are responsible for medication management, and provide conversation support. You can also work in our mobile team that goes out to patients’ homes for assessments and follow-ups. The unit also has four OBS rooms, where patients can stay overnight for a new assessment the next day.

PIVA (psychiatric intensive care unit) receives patients with the most severe and acute psychiatric conditions. Here, intensive psychiatric care is provided with a need for close monitoring, medication adjustments, and high presence. You have an important role in a cross-professional team and collaborate, in addition to internal colleagues, with ambulance, police, and social services to create safety and coordinated care.

Please read about our career ladder for nurses and also about your benefits with us.

Job description

As a nurse with us, you have a central role in acute care. You work with patient assessments, medication management, participation in rounds, supportive conversations, and other nurse-specific tasks. The work is varied and the pace fluctuates – from quick interventions to close follow-ups. Your time is divided between acute assessment situations, patient-centered care, and collaboration in the team.

You work closely with doctors and assistants in a cross-professional team, but also in close contact with ambulance, police, social services, and other community actors. Together, we create safety and structure for patients in very vulnerable situations – both on-site and out in the field via the mobile team.

We offer you

  • Work in the emergency department, PIVA, or a combination of both.
  • A strong team with high competence and supportive colleagues.
  • Individualized introduction and continuous guidance.
  • Opportunities for further education and development within psychiatric care.

A meaningful job where you really make a difference.

About you

You are a licensed nurse – and the most important thing is that you have a genuine interest in psychiatric care. If you have specialized training in psychiatry or previous experience from psychiatric activities, it is meritorious, but absolutely not a requirement. Regardless of background, we offer you a solid introductory program, tailored to your previous experiences. You will have a secure start with guidance, broad knowledge transfer, and the opportunity to gradually grow into the role. As you work in constant dialogue with patients, colleagues, and relatives, it is a requirement that you have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.

To thrive and fit in with us, your personal qualities are important. To thrive in this role, we believe that you are a stable and secure person who can stand firm even when it storms around you. You are relationship-building and build trust through a professional approach, both with patients, colleagues, and partners.

You communicate in a clear and empathetic way, even in stressful or emotionally charged situations. Your linguistic and analytical ability allows you to quickly absorb information, articulate clearly in both conversation and documentation, and make well-founded decisions based on the patient’s needs.
