Welcome to the Mother Tongue Unit!

The Mother Tongue Unit is one of the support services of the Department of Education, and together with primary school, adapted primary school, secondary school, adapted secondary school, and adult education, we have the important task of providing students with the conditions to develop a rich and active multilingualism and good results in other subjects.

About the position

We are now looking for mother tongue teachers/study advisors in the following languages:

• Finnish ca 20% mother tongue and study guidance
• Saho 10% study guidance
• Kinyarwanda ca 25% study guidance
• Italian 10%

As a mother tongue teacher, you are responsible for planning and conducting lessons in your mother tongue in accordance with applicable governing documents within primary and secondary education. The work also includes assessment and grading. As a study advisor, you support students in various school subjects in their mother tongue. You collaborate closely with subject teachers and plan and conduct study guidance based on the student's needs and in consultation with subject teachers/mentors.

Teaching is conducted with students in groups or with individual students at several of the municipality's school units. The work is largely conducted on-site, but remote teaching for older students is also common. Therefore, the position requires that you have the ability to independently travel to and from workplaces throughout Norrtälje Municipality, and you need to be flexible regarding geographical placement.

As a person, you are secure and communicative. Your teaching is accessible, and you can adapt your methods based on a heterogeneous group. You build trusting relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. You have a well-developed ability to work systematically and handle any changes while maintaining your calm and direction.

What you need to bring

Requirements

We are looking for someone who has:

• current teaching language as their mother tongue
• professional experience as a teacher
• good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
• good IT skills and the ability to integrate digital technology into teaching

Meritorious

• Teacher education with qualifications in the relevant language
• Since we work throughout the municipality, a driver's license and access to a car are meritorious for all positions.
