The Role of the Nurse

As a nurse, you will lead, plan, and organize specialized care, including pre- and post-operative care, around the patient. We work in teams where you will have close collaboration with nursing assistants and doctors. There are a total of 4 teams in the department on weekdays and three on weekends, so you will always have nursing colleagues to consult. Your tasks will include clinical assessments, ward rounds, medication management, sampling, and social planning around the patient. With us, you will have the opportunity to gain broad competence in various surgical diagnoses.

Your Future Workplace

We primarily care for patients with a surgical primary diagnosis who need to be investigated, examined, or operated on. Palliative patients at the end of life are also cared for in close collaboration with SSIH. The department also has places for urology and children over 4 years old. We receive patients both acutely and on a planned basis. The surgical clinic's inpatient care at Höglandssjukhuset in Eksjö consists of four departments focusing on upper abdomen, lower abdomen/palliative patients, acute/children, and urology. There are 30 care places here. The Surgical Care Unit in Eksjö is part of the Surgical Clinic in Region Jönköpings län, which has been a regional clinic since 2017 with operations in three locations: Eksjö, Jönköping, and Värnamo. All three locations have emergency departments, and acute surgical care is provided around the clock, including surgery and intensive care. Your Profile

We are looking for a licensed nurse and welcome both newly graduated and those with longer experience. We value experience in the profession, particularly experience in emergency care or surgical care is highly meritorious. As a person, you are committed, stable, and maintain calm in acute situations and have good collaboration skills. You have a solution-focused approach, work proactively, adapt easily to new situations, and have a good ability to communicate with others and understand their perspectives. Furthermore, we value your willingness to contribute to the development of the organization. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

• Current daytime working hours are from 6:45 AM to 4 PM and evening hours from 1:30 PM to 9:30 PM. We create an 11-week schedule that you can influence through individual schedule planning. We have scheduled operational development with opportunities for job shadowing.

Region Jönköpings län offers a regional introduction and development program (RIU) for newly graduated nurses. The program includes 17 full days spread over eight months, starting every year in February and September. RIU gives you the opportunity to meet other nurses in the same situation where you can exchange experiences and provide each other with advice and support. The position is a permanent full-time employment with a possible initial probationary period.
