The Role of the Nurse

As a nurse in the orthopedic care units, you will work with medication management, documentation, and medical technology equipment. You will be responsible for nursing care, pre- and post-operative care, mobilization of patients, as well as care and monitoring of patients with epidural catheters, blocks, and patient-controlled pain management.

In the orthopedic care units, patients need us around the clock, which means you will work days and evenings during weekdays and weekends. There is some opportunity for individual schedule planning.

The position is a full-time temporary position until August 31, 2026, with start date according to agreement. If you wish to work less than full-time, we are open to having a dialogue about it. The position may involve rotation between departments/clinics.

Your Future Workplace

The orthopedic clinic at Ryhov County Hospital in Jönköping is the largest orthopedic clinic in Jönköping County. We offer treatment, care, and rehabilitation for orthopedic diseases. The clinic is divided into general orthopedics and spine and neck surgery (neuro-orthopedic center).

The clinic has two inpatient care units, where a total of over 30 nurses and just over 30 nursing assistants work.

In orthopedic care unit A, patients with acute orthopedic injuries and diseases are cared for, including elderly patients with hip fractures and amputations. In orthopedic care unit B, patients are cared for in connection with various planned surgeries of the musculoskeletal system, such as hip prosthesis, shoulder prosthesis, or other surgeries of the extremities. Here, patients who have undergone planned surgeries of the spine and neck are also cared for. As a nurse with us, you will gain natural variation and a broad competence in orthopedics as you alternate between the two care units.

Your Profile

We are looking for a licensed nurse who wants to contribute to our work at the orthopedic clinic. To thrive with us, you should easily adapt to new circumstances and take responsibility for your work. You have good judgment and the ability to prioritize between tasks.

Your working style is structured, and you have a positive attitude towards your work and your colleagues, good collaboration skills, and a professional approach. You can communicate clearly and remain calm even in pressured situations. Personal suitability is of great importance.
