Our Operations
The operating department consists of seven operating rooms, and we perform about 3,500 elective surgeries per year. The operations include general surgery, urology, gynecology, as well as hip and knee prosthesis surgeries, which constitute a large part of all surgeries performed at the hospital. We are constantly evolving with new procedures and methods. With the help of our dedicated staff, we drive care forward. To optimize waiting times within the care in Region Uppsala, we have established a close collaboration with the Academic Hospital. This means that several doctors operate both at the Academic Hospital and the Hospital in Enköping.
The operating department consists of seven operating rooms. The recovery department has 13 care places and is led by the same manager as the operating department. Together, we are about 65 employees. We have operating room nurses, anesthetic nurses, nursing assistants, surgeons, and anesthesiologists. Each profession contributes its unique knowledge, allowing us to provide the best care to our patients. The surgical operations take place during the day, Monday to Friday. The recovery department is also open in the evenings from Monday to Friday and is staffed by anesthetic nurses and nursing assistants. Some rotate to anesthesia, our preoperative reception, and UVA while others work permanently in UVA.
The unit's common goals and focus are good collaboration, high quality, and patient safety. Together, we make a difference for our fellow human beings every day!
We are a well-functioning operating department characterized by strong community and a good atmosphere.
