Your new workplace

Do you want to help enable meaningful employment for individuals with various disabilities in Sundsvall Municipality? We are currently looking for a support assistant for the Individual and Labor Market Administration (IAF).

IAF encompasses the areas of Work and Income, Children, Youth and Family, Substance Abuse and Mental Health, and Adult Education. We create conditions for learning and work, improved living situations in cases of mental health issues and substance abuse, secure upbringing conditions, and reduced social exclusion. We increase opportunities for individuals to achieve self-sufficiency. We work preventively and provide the right support at the right time based on individual needs and possibilities.

IAF business groups provide targeted interventions in the form of daily activities for people with various disabilities. The interventions are regulated by the Social Services Act (SoL) and the Act on Special Support and Service for Certain Disabled Persons (LSS). We offer individuals who have been granted assistance through SoL or LSS meaningful employment opportunities. Our goal is for individuals to live as independently and autonomously as possible and actively participate in community life.

We are now looking for a support assistant for a combined position in the Travbanegruppen and the police café. The work is scheduled for weekdays during daytime. The position will be 80% (Monday-Thursday) in the Travbanegruppen and 20% (Fridays) in the police café.

Examples of tasks we perform include:

  • Managing the daily operations of the café in the police house and preparing light snacks and lunch.
  • In collaboration with Bergsåker racetrack, assisting with the operation of activities and animals.

Your contribution as a support assistant

As a Support Assistant, you play an important role in supporting and coaching individuals with disabilities in their daily lives. You will develop suitable tasks or activities based on individuals' varying needs, abilities, and interests. You will work with and be responsible for:

  • Guiding and supporting individuals with mental and neuropsychiatric diagnoses as well as individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • Creating suitable tasks/activities based on needs, abilities, and interests.
  • Writing and following up on implementation plans at least once a year. In consultation with the individual, planning and implementing interventions towards set goals.
  • Working with structure based on operational requirements and individual needs.
  • Being responsible for performing social documentation.
  • Having internal and external collaboration with Work Orientation, the Social Insurance Agency, individual support, housing, RPK, etc.
  • Maintaining contact with relatives, guardians, or trustees.

As a Support Assistant, you will also be involved in the introduction of substitutes and new employees and mentor students from high school, adult education, and university. You are a good ambassador for the organization and enjoy seeking new knowledge that we can share in the workplace.

Your qualifications and experience

Requirements: Care and Nursing Program or nursing assistant training with a specialization in disability/psychiatry, or a national vocational package for nursing assistants from 2021. Child and Youth Program with a focus on social work or pedagogical work.

You have experience working with individuals with disabilities in the psychiatric/NPF area and intellectual disabilities (at least 1 year) as well as experience and knowledge of cognitive support. You have knowledge of In Print or similar visual support. You have documented experience working with horses and the safety surrounding this, which the employer assesses as relevant.

You have good IT skills, speak good Swedish, and can understand and express yourself well in both spoken and written form. A B driver's license is required for the position.

Meritorious:

  • Training in low-arousal approaches.
  • Experience with alternative and augmentative communication (AAC).
  • PFA pedagogical approach and working methods.
  • Experience from restaurant/café.

As a person, you easily adapt to changing circumstances, have the ability to work with a focus on development. You adjust your approach and can meet different people based on their conditions and needs. You are clear in your communication, have a structured working method, and the ability to remain calm and stable under pressure. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
