Welcome to Sundsvall Municipality!
Sundsvall Municipality is one of Northern Sweden's largest employers with around 8,000 employees and over 300 professions. Together, we fulfill one of the most important missions in society – to create benefits and value for residents, businesses, and future generations. Regardless of the activity, we work towards the same goal: to be a great place to live, work, and thrive.
We are currently in an exciting phase of development. We are a pioneer in digital development and artificial intelligence, leading the work to create smart solutions for the future public sector.
Sundsvall plays a central role in the green transition in Northern Sweden. We are convinced that the right places for this transition are here. As a municipality, we are preparing to grow by preparing land, creating new educational opportunities, marketing the municipality, and welcoming new residents from all over the world.
Your new workplace:
We are looking for an engaged family therapist for the first line in Bredsand who wants to make a difference for children, youth, and their families in Sundsvall Municipality.
We work closely with citizens and have good cooperation with, for example, child health care, preschools, schools, youth centers, and the police.
Within the Children, Youth, and Family department, we are organized into four geographical teams and work with children and youth aged 0-18 years. Each team consists of a first line and a central investigation team. We offer preventive support and group activities for children and parents to promote positive development.
The team in Bredsand consists of seven employees, social workers, and family therapists, supported by a central investigation team, coordinators, and a unit manager. We care about the work environment and collaborate closely to support each other in our mission.
As a family therapist, you work with families to develop and improve the care situation, relationships, and communication of children and youth. We offer supervision and opportunities for wellness activities, such as gym memberships, ski trails at Södra Berget, and the municipality's recreational facilities.
Your contribution as a family therapist:
As a family therapist, you work independently with families, but also together with colleagues in qualified family work to achieve set goals together with children, youth, and their parents. The therapeutic work often focuses on support in interaction, relationships, and communication, as well as helping to improve daily routines.
A large part of the work is preventive towards our target groups. In preventive work, you provide advice and support based on service and can also work as a group leader in the parent and child groups offered by social services. The work also involves collaboration with internal and external actors. Our ambition is to get closer to our citizens, work proactively, and offer easily accessible support without assistance assessment.
The work is scheduled during office hours, but some evening and/or morning shifts may occur as needed.
To clarify children's needs and support parents in identifying and developing their parenting skills, various working methods and approaches are applied, such as MI, ICDP, KOMET, and FFT. As a new employee, you will be gradually introduced to the various tasks, with good access to management and support in your work.
Your qualifications and experience:
We require:
- Degree in social work, behavioral science, or another relevant higher education deemed suitable by the employer
- Experience in therapeutic work focused on children, youth, and families
- Driver's license (B)
It is advantageous:
- Several years of experience in independent therapeutic work within outpatient care, psychiatry, residential care homes, or similar
As a person, you are:
- flexible and able to adapt to changing circumstances
- structured and goal-oriented
- emotionally stable with self-awareness and confidence
- capable of working both independently and in a team
- empathetic, curious, and exploratory, with the ability to distinguish between personal and professional
We are looking for someone who wants to work actively and closely with the families we meet, who wants to motivate and advocate for change, and who values collaboration both with the families coming to us and with colleagues and partners.
We place great importance on personal suitability.
