Your new workplace
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Unit is tasked with developing social services' work regarding eviction prevention methods.
Those hired will be part of the Open Care unit and will work with eviction prevention measures within the regular housing market. Open Care currently consists of 6 housing guides, 2 social workers for Housing First, a property technician, and a unit manager. The main task is to provide support to individuals who, due to substance abuse disorders and/or mental health issues, have been granted housing assistance in one of the social services' various housing solutions within the unit; social housing contracts, training apartments, or Housing First.
Your contribution as a social advisor
You will work operationally and strategically to counteract evictions within the regular housing market. Your mission is to ensure that individuals/families receive the right support in time to avoid losing their homes.
In your work, you will collaborate with landlords, collection agencies, the enforcement authority, and other administrations, as well as internally with colleagues from other units that play a role in preventing eviction from a home.
You are responsible for receiving and handling cases related to eviction, late rent payments, rent arrears, or requests for corrective actions. This is done in close collaboration with administrators within Employment and Welfare as well as internally with colleagues in other units. You act quickly and proactively – contacting individuals, landlords, collection agencies, the enforcement authority, etc., to coordinate efforts. Eviction cases are prioritized highly.
You will develop common routines, templates, and documentation systems to create a clear and efficient work process. Regular follow-ups and assessments are an obvious part of your work.
An important part of the role is outreach work and disseminating information about possible interventions and support forms that individuals can apply for. You act as a guide and practical support, helping to collect relevant documents, fill out forms, and ensure that the right help reaches the right person. It is a contact-building and practical job where you are involved throughout the process.
You are the spider in the web, collaborating with both internal and external actors. You work based on common routines and ensure that contact paths are simple, accessible, and quick. You provide advice to individuals and serve as a clear contact point within the organization.
Your skills and experience
We are looking for someone with a two-year post-secondary education focused on social work or another education deemed suitable by the employer. Knowledge of tenancy law, social services law, and co-occurring disorders is an advantage. We also prefer candidates with training in Motivational Interviewing and/or Case Management.
You have experience in social work and have worked with adults in need of social support. You are accustomed to supporting individuals with complex issues. You are persistent, development-oriented, and empathetic. You have a good understanding of municipal operations and its actors. Your local ties and ability to build trust are crucial for success in this role.
Additionally, you have a driver's license and good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written. Additional language skills are a plus. You are experienced with the Office suite, and experience with the municipality's documentation systems is desirable.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability!
