Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Health Sciences

Marie Cederschiöld University announces a postdoctoral position linked to the research project Right to Participate, Right to Be Paid: Epistemic Justice and Research Participation in Marginalized Groups.

The project focuses on the structural conditions for participation in co-creation research, with a particular emphasis on women experiencing homelessness and issues regarding compensation/remuneration for research participation.

The project is conducted at the Department of Health Sciences (IVV) and is carried out in close collaboration with the Women Advisory Board (WAB), a group of women with personal experience of homelessness and co-morbidity. The research questions have been formulated in dialogue with the target group and are based on experiences of unequal treatment and structural barriers in relation to co-creation research.

The project aims to identify and highlight structural barriers to research participation for marginalized groups, as well as to develop knowledge on how these barriers can be addressed. A particular focus is on how compensation for research participation can be facilitated without negatively impacting individuals' welfare benefits or other social services.

As a staff member at Marie Cederschiöld University, you contribute to the university's mission to promote a more equitable and sustainable society through research and education. The position is located at the Department of Health Sciences (IVV) at Campus Ersta in Stockholm. The department conducts nursing education and health sciences research with a strong connection to socially relevant issues.

Job Responsibilities

As a postdoctoral researcher, you will be part of an established research group and actively participate in all phases of the project. Responsibilities include:

  • Participation in and responsibility for parts of data collection in co-creation research environments
  • Qualitative analysis of interviews, documents, and co-creation processes
  • Collaboration with the Women Advisory Board and other stakeholders
  • Writing scientific articles and contributing to reports and knowledge dissemination

The researcher role in this project requires a high degree of responsiveness, flexibility, and ethical awareness.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the position, the following is required:

  • PhD in a relevant field (e.g., health sciences, social work, social sciences, or related area), obtained no more than three years prior to the start of employment
  • Good ability to communicate orally and in writing in Swedish and English
  • Able to work independently as well as in close collaboration with researchers and external stakeholders

It is advantageous if you have:

  • Experience in co-creation research, participatory research, or PAR
  • Experience with qualitative methods, such as interviews, focus groups, and document analysis
  • Experience in research with marginalized groups
  • Knowledge of welfare systems, social services, or health care
  • Experience with ethical issues related to participation, compensation, and power in research

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability and the ability to work reflexively in co-creation research processes.

Employment Conditions and Application

The position is a temporary postdoctoral position at 50% for 12 months, with a start date in May 2026 or earlier by agreement.

Since the project is based on co-creation processes with participants, some work outside regular hours may occur. The position requires you to be physically present on campus during meetings with the Women Advisory Board (WAB).

The application should include:

  • CV
  • Cover letter
  • Copy of degree certificate
  • Publication list
  • Up to two (2) scientific works

Application deadline: February 1, 2026
