SiS Youth Home Vemyra, located outside Sollefteå, receives school-age boys up to 16 years old with psychosocial problems as well as criminal behavior and substance abuse.

Job Description

We are looking for a career and guidance counselor who wants to make a vital difference - are you the one we seek? For us, the position of career and guidance counselor is a crucial role based on the students we work with who need knowledge about future professions and career choices. A few have previously had contact with a career and guidance counselor and have limited knowledge of the opportunities available in the labor market. Therefore, practical experience becomes particularly important and part of your assignment. We want our youth to become aware of their own talents and strengths and gain the skills and knowledge to make well-informed choices for their future studies or work. In your role, you will conduct motivating guidance conversations both individually and in groups, maintain external contacts within the labor market, and be part of the transition process. This means being involved in the process and creating opportunities for the youth to adapt into society with contacts that are beneficial for their future professional lives. You will work closely with our teachers and treatment staff, with a particular focus on motivation and guidance, in short, being the spider in the web between school/treatment and the students' future goals. It is a challenge but an incredibly interesting job!

Therefore, you need to be a warm, empathetic person driven by a strong inner passion and desire to achieve extraordinary results. You have an easy time seeing the big picture but can also interact between parts, details, and the whole. You enjoy working systematically and well-planned but can be flexible when needed. Even though you collaborate in your role, you need to be comfortable working independently as well. Being a colleague who shares knowledge and contributes to a sense of community at SiS are other qualities that make you interesting. Equally important is that you have a solid positive view of humanity and the ability to handle conflicts constructively.

We are looking for someone with a university degree as a career and guidance counselor. If you have previous experience working as a career and guidance counselor, we consider it an asset. If you have previously worked in youth care, we welcome that. A valid driver's license (B) is a requirement.

Employment:

The position is a permanent part-time employment of 50% and begins with a six-month probationary period. It can be advantageously combined with a temporary or hourly position as a teacher. Start date according to agreement.
