At the Migration Agency, we work with one of the major societal issues of our time – migration. In total, we are about 6,000 people here, and we have an unusually important job!

The Migration Agency has an important mission to prevent and combat abuse and has established a national control unit and three regional control units as part of this mission.

We are now looking for a unit manager for regional control unit 1, based in Malmö.

About control unit 1 in the southern region

Control unit 1 is tasked with detecting, preventing, and combating all forms of crime against and abuse of the Migration Agency's processes that pose a threat to Sweden's security or affect the Swedish welfare systems. The unit is also responsible for work against human trafficking, work against incorrect payments, and work against labor market crime. The unit's employees are located in Malmö and Norrköping.

Main responsibilities

As the unit manager for regional control unit 1, you are responsible for the development of employees and processes. Your responsibilities include leading and distributing work within the various areas that fall within the unit, and to achieve the best possible results, you need to have a coaching approach. You have full responsibility for personnel, budget, and work environment and lead your employees by being present, supportive, and decisive. You identify improvement areas together with your employees, create structure and conditions for participation, and drive a culture of accountability and development.

The unit collaborates within the agency but also with other authorities and external parties. You report to the section manager and are part of the section's management group. Travel in the service occurs.

Who are you?

You are present in your leadership and create participation and conditions for your employees to grow and take responsibility in a climate that inspires joy at work, proactivity, and efficiency. You have a strong analytical ability and the capacity to see the whole picture as well as an understanding of the complexity of the mission, which allows you to make well-founded decisions even in times of change. You are a secure leader and demonstrate good judgment while creating engagement and building good collaborations. Your leadership is characterized by a clear direction, empathy in meeting others, and courage in decision-making.

In our work as civil servants, high demands are placed on good judgment and a high level of security and confidentiality awareness.

Requirements:

  • Academic education of at least 120 credits in a field deemed relevant by the employer for the position
  • Current managerial experience within the state with responsibility for budget, employees, and work environment
  • Experience in developing operations with good results
  • Experience in leading and developing operations in change
  • You can express yourself very well in spoken and written Swedish and English
  • Swedish citizenship

Meritorious:

  • Experience in control operations within the state, primarily as a manager
  • Experience and knowledge of the Migration Agency's mission
  • Experience working in a security-sensitive environment

Security clearance with background check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) will be conducted. Based on this, there is a requirement for Swedish citizenship. Employment is contingent upon a successful security clearance.

Employment type: Permanent with a six-month probationary period
Working hours: Trust-based working hours
Location: Malmö
