The Department of Children and Education in Vimmerby Municipality is responsible for all educational activities, from preschool to university, and also oversees Swedish for immigrants (SFI) and community orientation for newcomers. JOB DESCRIPTION

As a school counselor, you will be part of the school's health team, whose main mission is health promotion and preventive work. You will structure and coordinate social interventions around students with various school difficulties. In this role, you will also guide teachers in psychosocial issues, work with students on an individual and group level, and conduct support conversations with students. Based on the needs of the student, you will collaborate with teachers, guardians, and others within the health team, as well as with social services, child and adolescent psychiatry, and more. You will also lead the school's equality team, where you will work preventively with others in the group and sometimes assist with urgent interventions.

Examples of job responsibilities:

• Promotional and preventive work at the group level
• Conduct support, motivational, crisis, and conflict conversations as well as investigative, advisory, and processing conversations with individual students
• Initiate and participate in network work around students
• Map and assess the social situation outside of school for individual students
• Work with groups in urgent needs and for preventive purposes
• Be responsible for revising and updating the school's action plan regarding sexuality, consent, and relationships
• Be responsible for following up the school's equality work
• Provide professional guidance and consultation to school staff
• Contribute a social and psychosocial perspective to the development of educational activities

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is a trained social worker. If you have experience working in the school environment or similar experience, we consider it an advantage.

As a school counselor with us, you find it easy to collaborate but can also plan and prioritize your work and perform it independently. You have an outgoing and inclusive approach and create good relationships with educators, students, and guardians. You have a respectful attitude towards people's differences and share the values of society and the school, particularly regarding inclusion. Furthermore, you are comfortable working in both small and larger groups of students and staff to meet the requirements of the Education Act regarding preventive and health-promoting work.

You follow current research and base your development work on an analysis of previous results. Additionally, you master the Swedish language in a way that allows you to communicate with students, relatives, and other staff, as well as document what the operation requires in writing.
