JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a probation officer, you will be responsible for, among other things, conditionally released clients and clients sentenced to probation who are under supervision and youth supervision. The probation service is also responsible for monitoring with electronic control, known as an ankle monitor, and community service. The work within probation consists largely of investigative work, conducting risk and needs assessments, and establishing plans for enforcement. The probation service also works to lead treatment programs for probation clients.

As a probation officer, you will actively participate in influence work directed at clients, among other things through structured conversations based on CBT, motivating participation in program activities, and assisting in release preparations for clients incarcerated in prison. Your tasks will also include conducting personal investigations and submitting opinions to the court and suggesting appropriate sanctions.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and has good self-awareness. You have a good understanding of how people absorb knowledge and adapt your way of conveying messages according to the recipient's conditions. In your professional practice, you have good judgment, integrity, and a structured approach to work. As a probation officer, you need to have good collaboration skills and be able to communicate clearly. You should also have a physical condition that enables you to act physically if the situation requires it. To thrive and succeed in your role, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and the belief that people can develop. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to ensuring that everyone is treated equally with your approach. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

We are looking for someone who has:

• A university degree (at least bachelor's level), preferably in behavioral science, law, social work, or social sciences, or another academic education combined with experience deemed relevant by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
• Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
• A valid driver's license (B)

It is advantageous if you have:

• Well-documented work experience in corrections, social care, psychiatry, or healthcare and social work
• Current work experience within probation
• Experience with enforcement planning and/or KrimStics
• Experience with documentation and case management
• Experience in the judicial system and target group
• Experience in exercising authority
• Basic knowledge of cognitive methods
• Completed the probation service's basic training
• Experience applying the RBM principles (Risk-Need-Responsiveness)
