NU Healthcare is part of the Västra Götaland region and is one of Sweden's larger county hospitals. We are located at NÄL (Norra Älvsborg County Hospital) in Trollhättan and Uddevalla Hospital. The hospital's catchment area covers 280,000 residents. Together, we are approximately 5,000 employees who work every day to provide good and safe specialist healthcare. Description

The Eye Clinic is one of the largest in the country with a catchment area of approximately 330,000 residents and is located at Uddevalla Hospital.

We perform over 40,000 patient visits annually, of which over 30,000 are doctor visits. Each year, approximately 3,200 cataract surgeries, 6,500 injection treatments, and 1,000 laser treatments are performed. In addition, we perform several types of glaucoma surgeries, strabismus surgeries, and surgeries for misalignments and tumors in the eyelid region.

Currently, 28 doctors work at the clinic, of which 6 are residents and several are newly qualified specialists. A SPUR inspection was conducted in January 2022, where the clinic received top ratings. We have our own study director and a very good educational climate for young doctors. Our goal is for all employees to feel important and involved in the clinic's development. All doctors receive their own workplace, service computer, and service mobile.

The operation is divided into five process areas called Acute/General, Children/Orthoptics, Glaucoma, Surgery, and Retina, led by process-responsible doctors/orthoptists and process teams. All employees belong to one of the processes, but often work in more than one area. Our facilities are newly built and well adapted for the different process areas. The clinic is very well equipped with four operating rooms, one room for minor procedures, one injection room, six OCTs, Pentacam, multispot laser, Navilas, micropulse laser, two SLT/YAG, RetCam for examining the fundus in infants, as well as the latest generation of phaco machines in our own operating department. The clinic prioritizes development work and new methods and is far ahead in regional and national comparisons, especially in glaucoma surgery.

Responsibilities

Medical work during training and supervision for residents according to the established training plan for residents in ophthalmology, which includes all process areas.

We can offer you an exciting and stimulating job, where development work plays an important role. You will work in a team-based environment where the role of the doctor is central, together with colleagues and other staff with many years of experience. Both outpatient work, laser treatments, injections, and surgery are included in the training. Study time, administrative time, and supervision time will be scheduled.

Qualifications

Licensed physician. If you have studied abroad, you must have completed your BT in Sweden or plan to finish your BT within 2 months. We are looking for someone motivated to work for good care with high patient safety together with your colleagues. You are a person who puts the patient in focus and has a professional approach both towards patients and colleagues. We will place great emphasis on personal suitability.
