The Summer School at Folktandvården Västra Götaland offers you, as a dental hygienist student, an opportunity to gain a good insight into the daily operations at our clinics.

The Summer School lasts for four weeks and provides experiences and knowledge that will complement your dental hygiene studies.

Structure of the Summer School

Each student in the Summer School is assigned a mentor at the clinic who introduces them. Those who are ready to practice simpler clinical tasks will also have one of the clinic's dental hygienists as a supervisor. As a student in the Summer School, you will gain additional knowledge about dental care and are not counted as a resource in the daily work.

Content of the Summer School for students in terms 1-3

• Insight into the clinic's various functions
• Assist dentists, dental hygienists, and dental nurses
• Insight into sterilization work
• Insight into reception work
• Participate in workplace meetings and therapy planning meetings
• Practical work tailored to the student's knowledge from their respective dental hygiene education

Content of the Summer School for students in terms 4-5

• Practical work tailored to the student's knowledge from their respective dental hygiene education.
• Assist dentists or dental hygienists
• Participate in workplace meetings and therapy planning meetings
• Insight into the clinic's various functions
• Participate in preventive work
• Try simpler clinical tasks under the supervisor's responsibility

Please indicate your clinic preferences by prioritizing the three clinics you are most interested in in your application. Since it can be difficult to find accommodation in certain locations, you are welcome to mention in your personal letter if you already have housing to make it practically feasible. The number of places in the Summer School is limited.
