The Summer School at Folktandvården Västra Götaland offers you, as a dental student, the opportunity to gain a good insight into the daily operations of our clinics.

The Summer School lasts for four weeks and provides experiences and knowledge that will complement your dental studies.

Structure of the Summer School

As a student in the Summer School, you will have a mentor at the clinic who will introduce you. Those who are ready to practice simpler clinical tasks will also have one of the clinic's dentists as a supervisor. As a student in the Summer School, you will gain additional knowledge about dental care and will not be counted as a resource in the daily work.

Content of the Summer School for students in semesters 1-6

• Insight into the clinic's various functions
• Assist dentists, dental hygienists, and dental nurses
• Insight into sterilization work
• Insight into reception work
• Participate in workplace meetings and therapy planning meetings
• Practical work tailored to the student's knowledge from their respective dental education

Content of the Summer School for students in semesters 7-8

• Insight into the clinic's various functions
• Participate in preventive work
• Try simpler clinical tasks under the supervisor's responsibility
• Practical work tailored to the student's knowledge from their respective dental education
• Assist dentists
• Participate in workplace meetings and therapy planning meetings

Content of the Summer School for students in semester 9

• Insight into the clinic's various functions
• Work with simpler patient treatments on a temporary appointment under the guidance of an experienced colleague
• Work in your own treatment room assisted by an experienced dental nurse

The following clinics have expressed interest in accepting Summer School students, and more places may be added. Please indicate your preferred clinic in your application. Since it can be difficult to find accommodation in certain locations, feel free to mention in your personal letter if you already have housing to facilitate practical arrangements. The number of places in the Summer School is limited.
