Workplace Description

Do you want to contribute to a safe and inspiring school environment for our students? Do you have a high school diploma? Are you a trained or studying childcare worker and/or do you have experience working with elementary school students? Then you can apply to the substitute pool of Stockholm's municipal schools.

Your employment is linked to the staffing unit at the education administration in the City of Stockholm, which is responsible for staffing and operation of Stockholm's municipal schools' substitute pool. As a childcare substitute, you will have a temporary employment with the opportunity to work within our municipal schools. You are not guaranteed work; it is determined by the schools' need for substitutes and how much you can work.

Your New Job

As a childcare substitute, you will primarily work with students in after-school activities, preschool class, and grades 1–6, but there is also the possibility of working in the city's preschools. Please note that we are not looking for childcare substitutes who are only interested in working in preschools.

The work is varied, developing, and requires responsibility. You contribute to creating a safe, meaningful, and stimulating environment for the students. A large part of the work involves supporting the student group in classroom instruction and in activities both indoors and outdoors. You are an important part of the educational team and collaborate closely with the teachers, who have the overall responsibility for the instruction. In this role, you may also work with students who need special support.

Which schools and activities you can work in is determined by your education, experience, and skills. In consultation with you, the Staffing Unit matches your competencies with the schools' needs. The work is flexible – you control which days and times you are available via a web-based booking system. Before you start working, you will undergo a digital introduction that prepares you for assignments in the schools.

Your Competence and Experience

We are looking for someone who has:

• a completed high school diploma, adult education diploma, or equivalent foreign diploma validated by UHR
• experience working in a child or student group
• good ability to communicate clearly in Swedish, both orally and in writing

It is an advantage if you have:

• childcare education
• experience working in elementary school
• experience working with children/students in need of special support

We are looking for someone who is confident in managing groups of students. You take initiative, are active in working with students, and meet them with attentiveness. With good listening skills, you communicate and resolve conflicts constructively. We place high demands on your flexibility and ability to collaborate as you often change workplaces and colleagues. You easily adapt to changing circumstances while maintaining calm and focusing on the right things in stressful situations.

To work in our schools, you must have an extract from the Police's criminal record regarding school activities. Upon new employment, we prefer that the criminal record has been issued within the last three months.
